Packers President Mark Murphy spoke with Tom Silverstein from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel today and got us up to speed on the goings on of two quarterbacks.

Speaking about the upcoming contract extension for Aaron Rodgers:

“A priority as an organization…We all want to see it get done”

Murphy also said he was unaware of the status of the negotiations between Rodgers and Packers’ representative Russ Ball.

And on the inevitable retirement of Brett Favre’s number:

“I don’t want to put a deadline on it, but it’s going to happen…It’s got to be sitting down, the organization, whether it’s myself or others, sitting down with him and working on the timing on it.”

Murphy also commented on the appearance of Rodgers and Favre at the NFL Honors Ceremony last month:

“I thought that was great…It was kind of a good first step. And our intent all along is we want to bring him back into the family and retire his number. He deserves it.”

Quick commentary on Rodgers’ extension: The sooner it gets done the better-one less thing to worry about.

Quick commentary on retiring Favre’s number: The sooner it gets done the better-one less thing to worry about, because like it or not, it’s going to happen.
