Last week the deficiencies of Seneca Wallace displayed themselves. An average arm which makes him vulnerable to most throws. The Eagles come to Lambeau flying high after erupting for 49 points last week. Even with the return of Clay Matthews, the Packers will not have an answer for LeSean McCoy, will get behind early and with a backup quarterback starting, that’s not a good equation.

The Packers come into this game having lost their best player, something that would be difficult for any team to overcome. Seneca Wallace will be better this week with a week of preparation under his belt, and they will be able to run the ball against a leaky Eagles defense. Unfortunately, at some point the game comes down to the quarterback being able to make plays within the pocket, and at this point I have more faith in Nick Foles to do that than I do Wallace. Eagles win a tight battle, that would drop the Packers to 5-4.

It’s a shame that Aaron Rodgers will not be able to play against the Eagles-it would have been fun to see him face off against an Eagles defense which ranks dead last in the NFL in pass defense (308 passing YPG). While he sits and recovers from his broken collarbone, Seneca Wallace will barely challenge the Eagles porous pass defense, choosing to had the ball off to Eddie Lacy-a lot. There will be a few short passes for good measure, hoping the receivers can run after the catch to gain YAC. On defense, the Packers MUST stop LeSean McCoy. Failure to do this, and they will struggle. One thing that will happen this week-Nick Foles will not throw for 7 touchdowns again. It will be close, and both teams will put up points. The Packers will put up just a few more.

I want to pick the Packers, I do.  I want to believe that Coach Mac and Coach Capers are going to get this team ready to play without their leader, but I just can’t.  James Jones isn’t 100%.  Randall Cobb isn’t playing.  Jermichael Finley isn’t playing.  Clay Matthews is wearing a club.  The line between winning and losing is very close in the NFL and the Packers are stepping all over it.  Aaron Rodgers was the great eraser of problems, injuries, and coverages and while I’m not panicking, I don’t think that this team is quite ready to get a win without him
