Currently, the Green Bay Packer roster is comprised of players from all across the country and many different football conferences. However, there is one conference that most current players on the roster come from: the Big Ten.

11 players from eight different teams in the conference are on the team, led by two from Iowa (Bulaga and Daniels), Michigan (Kerridge and Ryan) and Wisconsin (Biegel and Kendricks) each.

The influx of Big Ten talent began in 2010 for the current roster, as Bulaga was drafted with the 23rd selection. Two years later, Daniels was selected in the fourth round, and from 2014 until now, there has been at least one Big Ten player drafted by the team.

In this year’s draft, there are 14 prospects listed in the SI top 100 board coming out of Big Ten schools, including two that Brian Gutekunst and the front office can seriously consider taking in Thursday’s first round: cornerbacks Denzel Ward and Josh Jackson.

Looking past Thursday, the amount of mid-round prospects that could again become key contributors for the team from the conference is impressive, something that could come into play with any of Green Bay’s 12 selections.

The Packers only have two picks on day two currently, one selection in each of the second and third rounds, and nine selections on day three, including the first picks in both the fourth and fifth rounds. These two picks to begin the fourth and fifth rounds were acquired in the Damarious Randall-Deshone Kizer deal with the Browns.

Each of these following colleges have prospects graded as ‘mid-level’ that could all fit within the Packer organization. While not all teams are listed, these are the most commonly thought-about selections from the conference:

Indiana- Simmie Cobbs, WR

Iowa- Akrum Wadley, RB; Josey Jewell, LB

Maryland- D.J. Moore, WR; Damian Prince, OL

Michigan- Mason Cole, OL; Maurice Hurst, DL

Michigan State- L.J. Scott, RB

Nebraska- Tanner Lee, QB; Nick Gates, OL

Ohio State- Jerome Baker, LB; Sam Hubbard, EDGE

Penn State- Marcus Allen, S; Mike Gesicki, TE

Purdue- Eddy Wilson, DT

Rutgers- Kemoko Turay, EDGE

Wisconsin- Nick Nelson, CB; Jack Cichy, LB

With 12 selections, look for at least one to continue the annual trend of bringing a former Big Ten player to Packerland.
