What a barn burner! This game between the Cowboys and the Packers was unnecessarily stressful. The Packers at one point led 24-0, and Packers fans had to be feeling pretty good, although 21 minutes remained. The Packers pushed the lead to 31-3 with approximately 16 minutes left in the contest. in the next 4 minutes Dallas cut the lead to 31-17. Packers K Mason Crosby added a FG for a 34-17 lead, with Dallas drawing to 34-24 at the 7:56 mark. That’s how the game ended, with Packer fans on the edge of their seats. Who predicted Aaron Jones with 107 yds. rushing, 75 yds. receiving and 4 TDs? I didn’t. I would have said those stats would belong to Ezekiel Elliott.

What puzzles me, Mark Tauscher, Wayne Larrivee and a host of others, is the inconsistency by the NFL Officials. Both the Packer’s Matt LaFleur, and Cowboy’s Jason Garrett, were certainly heated over several calls and non-calls. In an effort to make penalties clearer and more consistent, the NFL has made the process longer, confusing and highly inconsistent. How do back to back plays by the Cowboys, which ended in turnovers, result in 7 points for the Pokes?! How does DPI vary from play to play, game to game and week to week? We won’t even discuss OPI, which has become a total joke. I will say, both teams have enough game film to complain to the NFL, I’m hoping they do. Once Roger Goodell retires, we may see improvement in officiating (why would he retire while earning $40M/yr?). I don’t trust Roger Goodell, he holds a bias for and against some franchises.

Once again injuries are continuing to mount for the Packers. No surprise that CB Kevin King appeared on the injured list (knee), also C Corey Lindsey (Concussion), and LB Za’Darius Smith (knee, ankle). Unfortunately the WR’s didn’t perform as I had hoped, Aaron Jones led in the reception category, with RB Tre Carson second and TE Jimmy Graham next in line. I believe the game plan was to focus on the run game, in the absence of Davante Adams. The question for me will be when Davante returns how many touches will Aaron Jones have? We saw only two receptions for WR Geronimo Allison and one by Marquez Valdes-Scantling, we need more from these two. The defense did shut down Ezekiel Elliott and forced 3 INTs. Mike Pettine’s gang did run out of gas late when the Cowboy’s made their comeback, but managed to hang on just enough.

The Detroit Lions come to Lambeau for Monday Night Football carrying a four game win streak over the Packers. The Lions are greatly improved and will provide another test for the Packers. I will venture to say the Packers will rise to the occasion and defeat the Lions at home.

As Always, Go Pack Go!
