There could be some trouble in paradise regarding the Green Bay Packers star receiver Davante Adams. This morning, he announced on Twitter that he would miss tonight’s matchup with the Atlanta Falcons. Adams later deleted his tweet which used some vindictive language against the Packers training staff for holding him out despite feeling healthy enough to play. With kickoff scheduled for 8:50 EST, there hasn’t been an official announcement by the team.

Here was Adams’ full statement:

“Sorry fans and friends I wont be on the field tonight. I’ve done everything I need to do and proved Im ready but I guess I don’t know my body as well as others. Good luck out there my boys.”

Adams was held out of last week’s game against the New Orleans Saints with a hamstring injury. Leading up to kickoff, he was considered a game-time decision after being listed as questionable on the final injury report.

Because he was so close to playing last week, many thought Adams would be good to go against Atlanta. He was a limited participant in practices this week, however, the team is choosing not to put one of their top offensive weapons in harm’s way with a bye week on the horizon.

Of course, they would prefer to have Adams on the field, but Green Bay has done well in managing without their number one receiver. Adams missed four games in 2019 with a toe injury, yet the team went 4-0 during that stretch with strong performances by Aaron Rodgers and Aaron Jones.

Despite not being 100 percent healthy for most of the season, Adams returned and finished the year with 83 catches for 997 yards and five touchdowns in 12 games.

During Adams’ absence in week three of this season, Allen Lazard stepped up and had a career day of six catches for 146 yards and a touchdown. Lazard would have been Rodgers’ top option at receiver until Adams returned, but unfortunately, Lazard was placed on injured reserve after his breakout performance with a core injury that required surgery.

Now without his top two receivers, Rodgers has to dust off his superhero cape just like old times. Thankfully, he at least has a potent run game behind him led by Jones and the always serviceable Jamaal Williams.

The Packers offense is set to go up against a battered Atlanta defense, which is last in the N
