On Super Bowl Sunday, a few hours before the big game, there was report about the Green Bay Packers kicking off the 2019 against the Chicago Bears.

The Packers and the Bears have the NFL’s oldest rivalry. This would also be the second straight year that the two teams met on opening weekend. The Packers and Bears kicked off the 2018 season on Sunday night football in a game that many Packers fans will not forget.

Aaron Rodgers got injured in the second quarter. The injury looked worse at the time than it turned out to be. Rodgers returned in the third quarter and threw for 3 touchdowns, overcoming a 20-point deficit to lead the Packers to a thrilling victory. It was the performance and game that won Aaron Rodgers the ‘Moment of the Year’ at the NFL Honors.

That game was played at Lambeau Field. It is being reported that not only will the two teams meet opening weekend, but the game will be in Chicago at Soldier Field. The highlight is they will kick off the season on Thursday Night Football.

The Thursday Night Football game is usually reserved for the Super Bowl Champions to play in. With the NFL celebrating its 100th Season in 2019, there is no better way to kick it off than with their oldest rivalry.

The Green Bay Packers just celebrated their 100th season in 2018. The Chicago Bears will celebrate their 100th season in 2019. A new head coach and offensive system in Green Bay. A Bears team that is on the rise with a young quarterback and talented defense. The reigning NFC North Champions vs the organization that reigned supreme for nearly two decades.

The NFL schedule is released in April. This could have been a teaser to the 2019 season and the leagues year-long celebration. They also ran a 100th season commercial during the game.
