Notable Jersey Modifications

1921: The Acme Packing Company acquires early ownership of the club, and the initial jerseys have navy blue and gold as the predominant colors, expressing pride in the team’s proprietors. The uniforms are constructed of felt for greater grip, and the pants are worn high to protect the lower torso.

The Packers used a basic gold jersey with nine navy-blue stripes on each sleeve from 1923 to 1924.

1927: The clothes were changed with jockey-like shirts and faded blue trousers with 13 blue and gold vertical stripes.

1929: The Packers switched to basic dark-navy jerseys with modest numbers on the front wrapped in a circle, abandoning their former appearance.

1937: The Packers adopt a solid blue uniform with a gold upper and matching gold numerals. The stockings match the shirt, and the pants are gold. With recent throwback performances, the club has paid homage to this shirt.

1951: The team adopts a metallic gold color and incorporates green into the uniform color scheme. The shirt is a solid bright green with gold numbers and double gold stripes on each sleeve. In addition, gold slacks with green stripes work well with the top’s inverted hues.

1954: The Packers relaunch navy-blue jerseys with a new dirty-mustard three-stripe style.

Vince Lombardi redesigns the uniforms in 1959, introducing the main style and color alterations that are still in use today. A three-stripe pattern on socks and the traditional green-gold colors are among the changes.

1961: The team’s first and only logo is placed on the helmet, and the socks’ striping is changed.

1969: To mark the league’s 50th anniversary, the Packers, like the rest of the league, wear a patch on their left shoulder.

The green-white-green stripe on the trousers widens by more than an inch in 1975.

1984: A new head coach, Forrest Gregg, made significant alterations to the outfit since Vince Lombardi designed it in the late 1950s. The logo is placed over the striping on each sleeve by the team. The team name, encircled in a green circle, is added to the trousers, and the “TV numbers” shift from the sleeves to the shoulders.

1989: The branding on the sleeves is gone, and the numbering on the trousers is eliminated.

1994: The Packers wear a throwback jersey with navy blue and yellow colors to commemorate the team’s 75th anniversary.

Green Bay wears vintage clothes against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving Day in 2001. The clothes, which include white jerseys with green numbers and gold leggings, are reminiscent of the 1930s.

The Packers added an NFL shield to the trousers and neckline in 2002.

On Thanksgiving in 2003, the Packers don a new throwback uniform variant. The outfit is a modernized version of the 1967 road uniform, with minor differences like the green-gold trim on the sleeves, collar, and socks.

The Packers wear a patch commemorating Lambeau Field’s 50th anniversary in 2007.

2010: The Packers wore a throwback outfit that pays homage to the 1920s. The traditional blue-and-yellow color scheme is used on the shirt, but the leggings are a muddy gold tint.

2013: The Packers took a throwback uniform identical to the one worn in 2012, which was inspired by the 1929 season. They switch things up a lot. The club opts for bright yellow helmets that complement the color of the shirt.

2021: A new “50s Classic Uniform” is inspired by the team’s uniforms from 1950-1953, which was the second time the team wore green and gold in its history.
