Analysis
With the 249th pick in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers selected Rasheed Walker, a offensive tackle from Penn State. Walker, a 6’5 5/8″, 313 lbs, profiles as a starting right tackle or developmental left tackle in the NFL. He ranked 121 on the PFF big draft board and had a PFF grade of 60.0 in 2021. Walker has an impressive blend of size, athletic ability and natural power, and shows the initial explosiveness to get to his landmarks in his vertical set, with the foot quickness to redirect smoothly up the arc and inside.
Team Fit
With the pick of Rasheed Walker, the Packers have added depth to the offensive line unit. He was the third offensive lineman that the team took in the draft. He fits well into a zone blocking scheme with spread principles. Run blocking has been the stronger part of this game as he did struggle in pass protection. During college, Walker started 32 consecutive games for Penn State at Left Tackle. With the Packers he fits in by providing depth along the offensive line. The Packers like versitale lineman who can play multiple positions and Walker can handle both tackle positions. He is a bit of a development player but in the 7th round it is good to get depth.
