March 11, 2024 was a roller coaster of a day for Packer fans. The Packers released two beloved veteran players but signed star Safety Xavier McKinney and RB Josh Jacobs. McKinney has grabbed most of the headlines this offseason. However, it is the other signing that Packer fans will fall in love with. Josh Jacobs is the underrated pick for the new Packer fan favorite.
The Packer Faithful will appreciate Jacobs for not only his playing ability but who he is as a person. Jacobs is a quieter player. He is not flashy. He is not arrogant. Josh Jacobs is determined to win and wants to be in Green Bay. In his initial press conference, he mentioned how impressed he was by Jordan Love. Love was a major reason why Jacobs signed with Green Bay. Jacobs believes in Love and he believes in this team. His humble but resilient personality is a perfect fit for the Packers.
Jacobs grew up in Tulsa, OK. At times, he was living out of his family’s car or moving from hotel to hotel. Former Alabama Head Coach Nick Saban recruited Josh Jacobs to Alabama. Jacobs is best known for his performance in Alabama’s 2018 CFP semifinal win against Oklahoma. He registered 98 rushing yards, 60 receiving yards, and 1 receiving touchdown. Once Jacobs got to the NFL with the Raiders, all he did was produce. In his five year career, Jacobs has totaled 6,993 total yards from scrimmage and scored 46 touchdowns.
Josh Jacobs is a Perfect Fit for the Community
During this past week, in between OTA sessions, Jacobs chose to stay in Green Bay. He did not leave for a weekend of fun. Instead, he stayed in town and helped with the Junior Power Pack Kids Camp. Jacobs is involved with Covenant House, Positive Tomorrows, and StandUp For Kids. These three organizations focus on the mission to prevent youth homelessness and provide kids with a stability.
In terms of becoming a fan favorite, Jacobs is replacing a beloved Aaron Jones in the Packers backfield. During his time in Green Bay, Jones was adored by fans. Many were sad and shocked to see his release from the team. Despite that, it should not overshadow the fact that the Packers signed a tremendous player and person in Jacobs.
Josh Jacobs will provide a spark to the Packers offense. He will carry the G and represent the Green Bay community well. Expect Jacobs to be greatly appreciated by Packer fans.
