The Green Bay Packers arrived in Brazil on Wednesday night. On Friday, they face the Eagles at Corinthians Arena.
A pack of fans waited for Green Bay’s flight to land. As players, coaches, and media exited, supportive chants greeted them. Some players signed jerseys and briefly acknowledged the fans.
According to an official NFL Brazil survey on X, the Packers have the largest NFL fan base in Brazil. The crowd could be filled with Packers fans, though many neutral fans are expected. Some Eagles players made incorrect comments about Brazil, which hurt their popularity with undecided neutral fans. Matt LaFleur did a commendable job avoiding questions about Brazil, focusing instead on preparing for the task at hand against Philadelphia.
Brazilian fans are known for their passion in sports. Most people aren’t ready for the energy they’ll bring. They’ll be loud, to say the least. Packers fans will support their team relentlessly. Personally, I’ll boo the Eagles’ offense every time they take the field. Overall, Friday won’t feel like an Eagles home game, which is certainly an advantage for Green Bay.
I’m sure Green Bay players will feel a warm welcome when they take the field for warmups. Though far from home, they’ll receive the same love and respect they deserve. This extends to every member of the Packers organization who made the trip.
Although it may take time, Brazilian fans hope to see the Packers play in Brazil again. Green Bay fans have dreamed of this moment for years, though not everyone could get tickets. Hopefully, the Packers will find this experience rewarding, encouraging them to return in the future.
This will be my first time attending a Packers game and my first football game ever. I’m just one of hundreds fulfilling a dream on Friday. The Packers will be well represented in the stands, and hopefully, they’ll leave Brazil with a 1-0 record.
