The Green Bay Packers are set to embark on game two of a three game, rival-filled stretch this Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys. The Packers were able to regain the upper hand over their number 1 rival, the Chicago Bears, last week. Following the game against the Cowboys, the Packers will head to Detroit to face the Lions in another NFC North showdown. The Packers will look to ride the momentum from Sunday’s beatdown of the Bears into the next two NFC, rivalry matchups.
Although the Cowboys are not divisional rivals, they have been a consistent enemy for Packer fans. The Cowboys were a constant thorn in the Packers side during the 80s and 90s. Tensions continue to rise when Cowboys owner, Jerry Jones, attempted to terminate the revenue sharing agreement, which would have it virtually made it impossible for the Packers to survive without an owner. On top of that, over the last 15 years, the Cowboys and Packers have met three times in the playoffs. All three games were highly contested and extremely memorable, especially for Packer fans.
The Packers started this three game stretch with a beatdown of the Bears. Coming off the two meltdowns against the Bears in Chicago last year, Green Bay needed to right the ship. They not only did that but they beat the Bears by 24 points. The Packers Cowboys showdown could have potential wild card implications so knocking off Dallas could be important later on. With the Lions next in line, the importance of divisional games, cannot be overstated. Especially with a team, whom the Packers owned for years, but with the recent emergence of the Lions, these games have a whole new feeling to it now.
The Packers Hope to Send a Message

Through five games so far in 2026, the Packers truly impressed in just one game. The Packers were able to pull out ugly wins against the Jets and Buccaneers, which Matt LaFleur made clear, there is no apologizing for winning a game. However, the Packers meltdown against the Vikings and clunker versus the Falcons called for concern. With this win over the Bears and a chance to take down two other NFC teams, the Packers can rewrite their perception around the NFL.
The NFL is a week to week league. As the team moves away from their Week 5 win, Green Bay will be tasked with controlling a potent Cowboy offense this Sunday. Dak Prescott will be the best quarterback the Packers defense has faced this season. The Green Bay defense forced five turnovers against the Bears so they will be riding high this Sunday. However, this league can humble the Packer defense awfully quickly.
The Packers seemed to find a spark against the Bears. NFL players always play with focus, aggression, and intensity since their job status relies on it. However, the coaching staff and the players seemingly displayed a new level of intensity against the Bears. With the Cowboys this week, and then the Lions, the so called “extra motion” is there. Whether or not that is real, that is up to the team to decide. The Packers will look to ride the momentum from the Chicago win and match that level of intensity once again this week against the Cowboys.
