Amazingly, the Giants started 0-6 and are still vying for the NFC East crown. Eli Manning is a good quarterback but with no running game, he has been exposed with many poor decisions. The Giants win this game on the strength of its defensive line. Getting pressure to disrupt Scott Tolzien, who is making his first career start, early will pay dividends late for New York.

At the beginning of the season I thought the Packers would finally break the curse they have against the Giants. The Giants have won the last two games against the Packers in pretty convincing fashion. The Packers were a better team both times as well. It looked like a good bet while the Giants floundered to begin the season and the Packers fixed some early woes to get to 5-2. Now with Aaron Rodgers out, and the defense struggling it looks far less like a sure thing. Couple that with an improved Giants team who is turning the ball over less and playing much better defense, I don’t think this game will be close.

A few weeks ago, this would have been a sure pick for the Packers. They were riding high on a four game winning streak, sitting in first place in the NFC North, while the Giants were 0-6, their season spiraling out of control. It’s amazing how a few weeks change things. Scott Tolzien will be making his first NFL start today in a less than friendly environment for a team that is desperate for a win. That is a lot to ask for an unproven quarterback. Granted he looked good against the Eagles last Sunday, but he will have to deal with a Giants defense that will look to pressure again and again and again. Eddie Lacy will try to take pressure off Tolzien, but today is going to be a tough day for the Packers overall.
