The NFL season has finally begun. Green Bay will open their season Sunday at 4:25 PM EST at the Minnesota Vikings. Here is the Packers final injury report before the season opener.
With the final injury report coming out, the Packers have already ruled out defensive tackle Warren Brinson. The offensive side looks good even in the absence of running back Josh Jacobs, who is still awaiting a possible suspension.
Guard Aaron Banks and tackle Zach Bako-Bewele are both questionable as well as linebacker Ty’Ron Hopper. Overall, the Packers look relatively healthy for Sunday. While the injury report looks good, the Packers made a surprising move yesterday.
Aaron Banks informed reporters that he would be a game time decision on Sunday. Let’s hope the 77-million-dollar starter is ready to go, as he has not lived up to the hype since signing with Green Bay.
On Friday, the Packers announced the release of wide receiver Bo Melton. Melton, who was originally a cornerback for the Packers, is now mostly playing at wide receiver and on special teams.
Despite the release, it doesn’t look like the Packers will be making any corresponding moves and will likely have Bo Melton signed back to the practice squad and elevate him on gameday.
With Josh Jacobs’ future still undetermined, head coach Matt LaFleur had quite the quote when asked if his view of Jacobs had changed, “Well, yeah, because I know the guy, and I know the character of the guy, so I’ve said it many times. And unfortunately, situations occur in life and it’s just an unfortunate situation.”
Minnesota’s injury report looks relatively clean, with limited participation from S Harrison Smith. Overall, a healthy matchup is on the way from the NFC North rivals.
