Resigning Davante Adams
Multiple Sources including Ian Rapoport have announced that the Packers and Davante Adams have agreed to a 4 year $58 million dollar contract extension. Adams will get $18 million upon signing and $32 million in the first two years of the deal. (Per source from Ian Rapoport).
The signing ensures that the Packers will be building their wide receiving core around Adams for years to come. Adams has shown his tremendous abilities and toughness throughout the season and has earned the right to be considered a franchise receiver. The Packers front office deserves credit for retaining one of their own and taking a proactive approach by not letting Adams hit the open market.
The resigning of Davante Adams almost certainly ensures the restructuring or releasing of anyone of the larger cap consuming contracts of Brian Bulaga, Clay Matthews, and Randall Cobb at some point during the offseason.
No matter the outcome in Detroit, the Packers have secured at least one win this weekend.
