I will attempt to predict the 2019 Green Bay Packers roster including the draft picks (R) as well as any added Free Agents (FA). We all know how difficult it is to assemble a championship NFL team. Not only does is take a quality roster, a team must stay within the Cap, avoid the injury bug and get lucky. Predicting a roster is an exercise for entertainment purposes only! I will choose a 53 man roster plus a few Practice Squad (PS) members.
Let’s begin with the Offense and most important position, Quarterback. The Pack will go with Aaron Rodgers, Ryan Griffin (FA), and Tim Boyle. DeShone Kizer didn’t show enough to remain on the roster. Next, Running Back, Aaron Jones, Jamaal Williams, Bryce Love (R-112), and Danny Vitale (PS). Moving on to Tight End, Jimmy Graham, Robert Tonyan, along with Irv Smith Jr (R-44) and Lance Kendrick getting another prove it season here. At the WR position I believe the Packers enter the season with Davante Adams, Geronimo Allison, Marquez Valdez-Scantling, Equanimeous St Brown, Jamon Moore, Miles Boykin (R-108), and Jake Kumerow. I believe Randall Cobb’s injury history convinces the Pack to move. On the Offensive Line the Packers will line up, David Bakhtiari, Lane Taylor, Corey Linsley, Max Scharping (R-140), Daryl Williams (FA), Justin McCray, Lucas Patrick, Jason Spriggs, Adam Pankey (PS) and Olisaemeka Udoh (R-182). That counts 26 players on the offensive side of the ball.
Now for the Defense, where the most impact could be felt. There are several positions where the Packers require bolstering. Let’s start with the Defensive Line, Kenny Clark, Mike Daniels, Dean Lowery, Mo Wilkerson (FA), Mo Adams, Tre Flowers (FA), Tyler Lancaster, Fadol Brown, and Jaylon Ferguson (R-76). One of these D-Linemen will start the season on the PS. One of the critical positions on defense is the LB corps. This is the most difficult group to predict. Blake Martinez and Kyler Fackrell are in. Unless Clay Matthews (FA) moves inside and accepts a Packer friendly deal he, Reggie Gilbert and Nick Perry are out. Nick Perry’s injury history forces the Packers to absorb the Cap hit and part ways with Nick. That would leave Oren Burks (on a make or break year), Jake Ryan (provided he’s not on PUP), Montez Sweat (R-12), Sione Takitaki (R-172), Andrew Van Ginkel (R-204) and Kendell Donnerson (PS). Defensive Back is another position which will see several changes, gone will be Davon House and Tramon Williams. We should see Jaire Alexander, Kevin King, Bashaud Breeland (FA), Josh Jones, Josh Jackson, Ibraheim Campbell, Kentrell Brice, Nasir Adderley (R-30) and Natrell Jamerson (PS). This places 27 players on the defense with several key additions. This allows for another 5 players on the Practice Squad through UDFA.
Once again, at this point projections are for pure entertainment purposes. I’d like to see several of the players actually on the 2019 version, but we have no idea how Free Agency and the Draft will unfold. Enjoy the read, add or subtract players and see what we can come up with before all of this develops right before our eyes.
As Always, Go Pack Go

I didn’t like Brian Burns at first for our first pick, but after his performance at the combine he showed to be very athletic for a 250 pound EDGE rusher. I also like the fact that Devin White could be there at 12 and he’s my pick should he fall to 12.
Let’s just hope the Packers get the first three picks right. They could all be starters in 2019.
