For the past year, the Green Bay Packers organization have been celebrating their 100th season. As their 100th season campaign comes to close later this summer, the organization will celebrate its 100th birthday on August 11th.

Details of the event are still in the works, but one thing is know, this birthday celebration is free and will be open to all fans. The event will be held in the Lambeau Field Atrium from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be a special giveaway to the first 5,000 fans in attendance.

More information on the organizations 100 seasons celebration can be found at packers.com/100-seasons.

This is 100 years in the making. There are so many great moments in this organizations history. As I think back, there are plenty of highlights that I can recall. Being at Lambeau in 1996 for the NFC Championship Game against the Carolina Panther. Then there is being in the stands at Lambeau on Monday night October 14, 1996 against the San Francisco 49ers. The Packers forced overtime that evening. 3 minutes and 41 seconds into the overtime period, Chris Jacke drilled a 53-yard field goal to give the Packers a 23-20 victory.

Even before those moments, I can remember that Majik moment when the Packers beat the Bears at Lambeau Field in 1989. The Pack was Back! Trailing 13-7 to the Chicago Bears, quarterback Don Majkowski drove the team 77 yards, and found All-Pro Wide Receiver Sterling Sharpe for a 14-yard touchdown. You remember it. The one where the official fagged Majkowski for stepping over the line, but instant replay overturned it and call a touchdown for the Packers, showing that the Majik Man had stepped on the line.

Who can forget the 1992 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, where Favre threw his first game winning touchdown pass. The Bengals were 2-0 and the Packers were 0-2 that day. Brett Favre started as the back-up quarterback. He entered the game to replace the injured Don Majikowski, a job that Favre never relinquished. Favre started that drive from his own 8 yard line with just over a minute to go in the game. After Sterling Sharpe left the game with an injury during that final drive, Favre found Kitrick Taylor open for a 35-yard touchdown to give the Packers the victory.

Since those moments, there have been plenty more that have stuck with me as a fan. Every time I visit Lambeau Field during the off-season, I have to stop in the Packers Hall Fame and relive all of the glory of Packers past. 100 years of greatness, I can’t wait to see what the next 100 years of Packers football will bring. Hopefully not just more winning, but more championships.
