The Green Bay Packers are nearing the end of their 2019 training camp. The only thing so far that is certain is change.

Gone are Josh Jones (Good luck young man, but be careful what you wish for next time), RB Darrin Hall and S Michael Tyson. Back to action are Blake Martinez, Danny Vitale and Jace Sternberger, all healed from their bumps and bruises. Signed are CB Jackson Porter most recently in 2018 training camp with the Ravens, CB Jocquez Kalili, Jaguars May 2019 and LB James Folston, Cardinals and Titans. The remainder of the walking wounded are still on the mend.

With the Chiefs on the radar for Thursday night’s pre-season game, the Packers face the Chiefs to end the pre-season for the second consecutive time. The Packers will also face the Chiefs during the regular season on October 20. I don’t believe that we will see any of the starters Thursday night. According to Coach LaFleur, the Packers are still evaluating all their talent on the 90 man roster. There are positions still very much in play, Left Guard, Middle Line Backer, Safety, Wide Receiver and Place Kicker (probably Crosby safe). Back up positions that are also in flux are Quarter Back, Safety, Corner Back and Tight End. Most of these back ups will also need to be proficient om Special Teams.

Considering the roster cut down is 3PM Saturday August 31, I’m betting Brian Gutekunst will be burning the midnight oil. My only dark horse at this point that I’d like to see make the team or at least the Practice Squad is OLB Randy Ramsey (U of Arkansas) a tough player who would be great on Special Teams. I’d place ILB’s Oren Burks and Curtis Bolden on IR to keep Ramsey. I would like to see the Packers put together a trade involving Kizer, King and Moore for a veteran ILB. I can’t wait to see the final roster and PS signees.

Here’s my guess for the 53, only by the numbers: QB 2, RB/FB 4, WR 7, TE 3, OL 10, DL 5, OLB 5, ILB 5, CB 5, S 4, SP 3. On next Sunday’s article we’ll see how this turns out.

As Always, Go Pack Go!
