There is a lot of news to get to coming out of Packer Nation. But today, we are going to discuss the news that Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy shared yesterday during the organizations virtual shareholders meeting, the Packers are one of three finalists to host the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Packers were one of three finalists to host the 2022 NFL Draft, before it was awarded to Las Vegas after the Covid-19 Pandemic caused it to be cancelled there this year. The 2021 draft will be held in Cleveland, while the Kansas City Chiefs will host the 2022 draft.

Murphy has been chasing bringing the NFL Draft to Titletown since the NFL started rotating it around the country since 2015.

Green Bay is not exactly your major city glitz and glamour. It is the smallest city in NFL. Even with a lack of hotels throughout the area, Murphy and organization is hoping that the lure of the team being the oldest NFL franchise, their extremely rich history, the new and expanding Titletown district, and the Resch Expo Center expansion will all help convince the NFL to bring the NFL Draft to the home of the Vince Lombardi Trophy, Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Green Bay is a marquee franchise and I would think there is a good chance the NFL Draft will come to Green Bay.

In other related event news, Murphy said yesterday that he is working through Badgers Athletic Director Barry Alvarez on rescheduling the Wisconsin – Notre Dame game that was originally scheduled for October 3 at Lambeau. He stated that game could come as early as 2022 since the teams will play at Soldier Field in 2021 as part of their two-game agreement.

Speaking of college football and the Big Ten, Murphy dropped another nugget that he is in the process of applying to host the Big Ten Championship game between 2023-2030. The game is currently played at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis in mid-December. There are discussions between top Big Ten officials to move the game around to other locations inside the Big Ten footprint.
