Packer fans know how good Jaire is, and how good he will be. But, it always takes a primetime performance to vault a fan favorite into the national spotlight.
Last week, Jaire was lined up for an incredible test against arguably the best WR in football: Michael Thomas. Thomas’ ankle injury postponed this matchup, but Jaire will have another opportunity to prove himself on primetime in week 4.
Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley is the league’s best WR duo, and it is not even close. Ridley missed practice yesterday with an ankle injury, but his production on the field speaks for itself. He is tied for the most receiving TDs and has the 2nd most receiving yards in the league in 2020. Jones has been dealing with a nagging hamstring injury after catching nine passes for 157 yards in the season opener.
Mike Pettine will not ask Jaire to shadow a specific part of the duo, but instead will expect Jaire to slow down whoever comes his way and rotate the help over the top to King. No one is going to hold these guy catchless, so the important thing is to not get beat deep and to limit yards after the catch.
Jaire has allowed only nine receptions for 16 yards, and according to Pro Football Focus, Jaire has been the 2nd highest graded CB (87.4) in 2020. If Jaire can be the swaggy playmaker that he is on Monday Night Football, he will cement his name as a top CB in the league.
It won’t be all on Jaire though, the pass rush has got to improve in week 4 to rush Ryan into missing reads and making bad throws. If you give Jones and Ridley more than three seconds on a route, they will beat you. Shutting down the Falcons will be a team effort, but the key catalyst in that team effort will need to be Jaire.
