The Green Bay Packers (7-3) battle the Chicago Bears (5-5) at Lambeau Field on Sunday Night. Surprisingly, this is the first time the two teams are playing each other in 2020, despite already being in Week 12 of the season. They meet again in Week 17 at Soldier Field. Here are some key numbers, varying in significance, as we head into Sunday night’s matchup.
The estimated game temperature around 8pm CST on Sunday night is 34 degrees with winds around 10 MPH and a 2% chance of rain. After the last two Packer home games, where the winds gusted above 30 MPH and the weather was dark and grey, the forecasted weather for Sunday night’s game is a much welcomed step forward.
The Packers have an opportunity to achieve 100 wins all time against the Bears with a win on Sunday. They head into Sunday’s game with a 99-95-6 all-time record against Chicago.
Aaron Rodgers has an opportunity to get his 20th career win all-time against the Bears with a win on Sunday. Since 2008, the Packers are 19-5 against their divisional foe, including playoffs in games Rodgers has started. If the Packers win on Sunday, the Rodgers Era Packers would be responsible for 20% of the franchises all time wins against the Bears. Brett Favre finished his Packers career with a 22-10 record against Chicago.
Matt Nagy and the Bears are coming off a bye week heading into this Sunday’s game. Nagy is 0-2 all time coming off a bye week as Head Coach of the Bears. Off the bye in 2018, the Bears lost a road game to Brock Osweiler, Adam Gase and the Dolphins, 31-28. In 2019, the Bears lost to a Drew Brees-less Saints team and were embarrassed at Solider Field, 36-25. Matt Nagy hopes that stat doesn’t turn into 0-3.
The Bears have scored 191 total points this season, which is 2nd to last in the NFL, only ahead of the Jets.
The Bears have allowed only 209 points this season, which ranks 2nd best in the NFC and 6th best in the NFL.
#10 Mitch Trubisky returns to the field for the Chicago Bears. Many believe Trubisky will be a better option than Nick Foles, simply due to the Bears inability to protect the quarterback. The thought goes that at least Trubisky can avoid incoming pass rushers and potentially make plays with his legs, compared to Foles who is largely immobile. Another note relating to 10: Za’Darius Smith needs 2 more sacks to reach 10 total sacks on the season. It would be the first time in Smith’s career with back-to-back double digit sacks if he’s able to achieve it.
Despite playing in only 7.5 games this season, Davante Adams is only 153 yards away from reaching 1000 total receiving yards on the season. The most receiving yards the Bears have given up to one player in a game this season is 135, which was in their last game to Justin Jefferson and the Minnesota Vikings. Adams is currently on pace for 119 receptions, 1482 yards and 18 touchdowns over a 14 game season.
A win on Sunday would give the Packers 8 wins on the season and improve their record to 8-3.——————
