If this week was any indication of what’s to come, the Green Bay Packers are on their way to once again being one of the most dominant football teams in the league. The Packers defense is finally starting to find its groove and settle in, showing signs of a unit with promise of improvement as the season continues. Out of several impressive factors, one that stood out this week was the lack of explosive plays allowed by the opposing squad. Defensively, the Packers edge rushers stayed true and helped set the edges. This ultimately kept San Francisco, who usually boasts a solid offense, relatively quiet.

De’Vondre Campbell

Free agent signing linebacker De’Vondre Campbell has proven to be a vital part of this Packers defense as he comes away from Week 3 leading the team in tackles at 31 tackles. Overall the defense has continued to be sticky, especially in the passing game.

Eric Stokes

If there is any sign of light with this team, it is the pure improvement of play from corner Eric Stokes compared to that of opposite corner Kevin King. The Packers seem to have found their number two corner in Eric Stokes. While Stokes does tend to fall behind in coverage, he makes up for it athletically being able to be on the receiver when attempting to complete the pass.

Outlook

Green Bay is set to match up against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Lambeau Field next week—in other words, Week 4 should be another opportunity for our defense to prove themselves. If the D-line, anchored by defensive tackle Kenny Clark, continues to apply the same pressure we have seen so far this season, the defense will continue to be a force on the field against tough teams.
