We are about half way through the NFL season and a highly anticipated match at Arrowhead between the Packers and Chiefs is here. The matchup that was suppose to be Rodgers vs Mahomes is now Love vs Mahomes. The Packers are rolling while the high powered Chiefs have stumbled so far this season. This still should be a good mid-season matchup. Our game preview will provide you with three things to watch during the game.

3 Things to Watch

Jordan Love

For the first time in awhile, someone other than Aaron Rodgers will be under center leading the offense. Jordan Love, the Packers first round pick a year ago, will be making his first NFL start. How he will handle the environment will be key to the Packers success this Sunday. He has terrific arm talent and the athleticism to escape the pocket and make plays with his legs. He will need to manage the game, stay within his comfort zone and avoid making the big mistakes. The Packers have said all week that he is locked in and has been calm and ready. This is a good game for him to be making his first NFL start as the Chiefs defense isn’t spectacular this season. Packer nation will be closing watching Love to see how he handles everything.

A True Matt Lafleur Offense

With Jordan Love starting at quarterback this Sunday, Packers fans are expected to see the Matt Lafleur offense as it was meant to be run. With Rodgers under center, the offense includes things that he was comfortable with and even some remnants of the Mike McCarthy offense. Rodgers has been given more leeway in the offense than most quarterbacks would be given. The Packers will pound the ball more and Love will probably be doing more check downs than we’ve seen. This is a opportunity for the front office and Packer Nation to see Matt Lafleur and his offense without a 3-time MVP quarterback leading the way and what things could look like in the future. The offense still has plenty of weapons around Love to be able to be effective.

Turnovers

The Packers are plus-8 in turnover differential, with only six giveaways. The defense has a takeaway in seven straight games, including six games with two or more. The key here is for Jordan Love to protect the football and avoid the big mistake. In some limited action in week 1 against the Saints, ove had a fumble inside the Saints 10 yard line. In college, he struggled with interceptions. Turnovers end offensive momentums. The Chiefs will give Love all kinds of looks to make him uncomfortable. It is on him to protect the football.

Final Analysis

The Chiefs have struggled this season and Jordan Love is the big unknown for the Packers. I feel like this will be a close game and it could go either way. There is a lot to like with the Packers offense vs the Chiefs defense. There are still plenty of weapons around Jordan Love for him the offense to be successful. The D-Train has been rolling as of late and is designed to limit what Mahomes is successful. Something tells me that Love will play good this Sunday and the Packers will hold off the Chiefs. It will be a good game.
