I delayed writing my weekly article for as long as possible thinking that I would have the opportunity to be the first on PackersTalk to discuss the Green Bay Packers trading Aaron Rodgers to the Jets. And here we are on March 11th, 2023 at 8:14PM Central Time still waiting. So, with my kids now in bed after a long day of celebrating my son’s birthday, I’m now sitting down to write my weekly article with no new news on Rodgers. So instead of talking about Rodgers, let’s talk about how the Packers are in love with Jordan Love.

The Packers are doing everything possible to make it seem like this decision for a Packers Rodgers divorce is Aaron Rodgers’ decision only. However, none of this would be the case if the Packers weren’t sure about Jordan Love. If anything, this whole saga tells me the Packers absolutely do believe in Jordan Love.

These are the reasons the Packers are in love with Jordan Love:

Professionalism

Jordan Love has been nothing but professional. The past three years could have broken anyone else but from a media perspective Jordan Love hasn’t so much as said a word about being the backup to Rodgers. I mean, look at the other quarterbacks drafted in 2020. Joe Burrow, Tua Tagovailoa, Justin Herbert, and Jalen Hurts have all played quite a bit since being drafted and are all in line to get paid handsomely. Jordan Love has only started one game and might receive the 5th year option.

This had to be extremely frustrating for Love to see his peers drafted in the same class play and be successful, all the while he had to sit and wait for three years. Even with this frustration, we never once heard about it through the media. Love has been great.

And even during all of the media circus about whether or not Rodgers will be traded, or retire, or return to the Packers, he has stayed professional.

Growth

Jordan Love, according to all reports out of Green Bay, is ready to go. Brian Gutekunst has even said that the last step in his development is just to play. Jordan Love, during his first year, was relegated to third string and never dressed. His second year he was given the backup job and even had to start a game in Kansas City. I was at that game and you could see Love miss high.

He was inconsistent until around the halfway mark of the 3rd quarter when he started to hit his throws. In the stands, you could feel the momentum being gathered by the Packers and Love. You can ask anyone at that game, if the defense could have stopped the Chiefs on that 3rd down play to Tyreek Hill, Love was gonna win that game on the next drive. He never had that opportunity.

In Love’s third year, he got to play the second half of the Eagles game due to an injury to Rodgers. He didn’t miss a beat. He had complete control over the offense. Love was in rhythm and didn’t miss. The game felt very much like the Rodgers Cowboys game from 2007.

Parallels

Matter of fact, that’s why the Packers are ready for Love. This whole thing has gone almost exactly like what happened to Rodgers. Rodgers and Love have mirrored each other almost perfectly. This is why the Packers know Love is ready. They’ve been through this before. The Packers have seen this play out before and they know what to look for.

All of these reasons give me hope for Jordan Love. Rodgers is gonna leave eventually and from the sounds of it, it should be soon. The end could even happen before this article posts at 7AM on Sunday March 12th. The Packers seem to be in love with Jordan Love, and we should be prepared to fall in love, too.
