What used to be one of the weakest spots on the Packers defense, the Cornerbacks position is now one of the stronger positions on the Packers.

Overall last year, it was an up and down year for the Packers Cornerbacks.

They began with a dud as Justin Jefferson tore up the Packers defense in the season opener against the Vikings and continued to struggle through the first couple of weeks in the season.

But in the middle of the season, we started to see top Corner Jaire Alexander being put on the opposing teams top receiver, which helped out the Packers coverage.

Here is a look at the top Packers Cornerbacks heading into the 2023 NFL season.

Jaire Alexander

Alexander was the lone Pro Bowl selection for the Packers in 2022. He intercepted five passes, which was the second most among cornerbacks last year. Alexander also added 17 stops and 11 forced incompletions.

When quarterbacks targeted Alexander, they had a passer rating of 66.2.

Alexander has clearly solidified himself as the top cornerback for the Packers. Look for Alexander this year to continue his great play as he is a key piece in the Packers secondary and defense.

Rasul Douglas

Since coming to the Packers in the middle of the 2021 season Rasul Douglas has done everything to impress the Packers. Coming off of the 2021 season.

Douglas started the season last year as the Packers nickel cornerback, with Eric Stokes as the second corner. His role increased though and after Stokes went down with a season ending ACL injury, Douglas took over Stokes.

Douglas produced 32 stops, which was the third-most among cornerbacks last season, He also had four interceptions after picking off five last season. When targeted, quarterbacks only had a 84.0 passer rating.

Douglas did have his ups and downs last season as he gave up 4 touchdowns and over 536 passing yards, but Douglas has learned from though mistakes. He’ll have a high chance of making the team. He’ll be battling Stokes for the number two cornerback position when training camp starts. That will be an interesting battle to see and one we’ll have to keep an eye on.

Eric Stokes

Stokes came into the 2022 season with all the momentum as he came off his rookie season looking for the year two jump most rookies have. Instead in 2022 Stokes hit a bit of a slump and missed the final 8 games due to an ACL injury.

Coming into the 2023 season Stokes will have a chance to reclaim his number two cornerback position but he’ll face some hard competition from Rasual Douglas. He’ll also face some hard competition for the nickel Cornerback position from Keisean Nixon who thrived as the team nickel corner last season when Stokes was out.

If Stokes can regain that play that he had in 2022, the Packers could have a deadly trio of corners, which is something we haven’t seen in Green Bay since the days of Tramon Williams, Charles Woodson and Sam Shields back in 2010.

Keisean Nixon

Nixon was not only a beast returning kicks in 2022, he was also doing pretty well as the Packers nickel/ slot corner.

In 2022, he didn’t allow a touchdown pass, committed only one penalty and gave up a passer rating of 83.6, Nixon also had an interception and forced a fumble.

Nixon will most likely be battling for the slot corner position along with Eric Stokes. Look for Nixon to continue his success as not only a kick returner but a corner as well.

Other Cornerback on the Roster

Shemar Jean-Charles, Corey Ballentine, Kiondre Thomas, Carrington Valentine
