The Packers needed a heavy rushing attack to help them get a victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday.

With Jordan Love exiting the game in the third quarter with a groin injury, the Packers turned to Malik Willis.

But like the previous games that Willis started, the plan was simple, run the ball.

Not only did the offense run the ball, but the Packers stuck with the plan.

When the offense needed to get points late in the game Willis stepped up.

The end result was yet another game winning field goal from Brandon McManus.

Josh Jacobs

Leading the way for the Packers rushing attack was Josh Jacobs.

Jacobs had his first 2 touchdown game of the season.

The first touchdown was on a 1 yard run, the Packers first touchdown of the day.

The second touchdown came late in the 3rd quarter, the longest touchdown run of the season.

Jacobs juked and ran 38 yards for the touchdown giving the Packers a 20-13 lead.

Jacobs finished the game with 127 yards on the ground.

Why Jacobs is important to the Packers offense

Jacobs showed why the Packers front office made a good decision in signing him in the offseason.

The Packers have had to rely on Jacobs at times, when they needed a leader on the offense.

Jacobs not only provides that, when called on, he is up to the challenge.

For example, the Packers were trailing for the first time in the third quarter without Love.

The defense just gave up a touchdown on their end to give the Jaguars a 17-13 lead.

The offense needed to put together a drive to help their defense stop the bleeding.

Jacobs answered the call.

He carried the ball five times for 54 yards on that series.

Further more the series ended with Jacobs second touchdown of the day, relieving the Packers defense.

The Workhorse back

Jacobs is everything that you expect out of a running back.

He wants to be that workhorse back, which he has always been throughout his career.

It’s what the Packers saw and needed.

Although former Packer Aaron Jones provided that, Jacobs provided a younger option for the Packers.

The numbers won’t show it, the rushing yards won’t show it ether.

But what isn’t shown in the numbers is how important Jacobs is to the Packers offense.

Not only is he the workhorse back , he is another leader the Packers have on offense.

Look for Jacobs to continue to lead the Packers rushing attack.
