The Packers head on the road to Seattle to face the Seahawks this Sunday.

For the Packers, recent history in Seattle isn’t the best.

In fact most of the memories in that city for the Packers are ones to forget.

Whether it’s a blown lead, a fail mary, or multiple errors that cost the Packers the game, there hasn’t been much luck for the Packers.

While these are completely different teams battling this Sunday, it’s hard to ignore the past.

Recent History in Seattle

Dating back to 2008 the Packers are 0 and 4 against the Seahawks on the road.

Furthermore 2008 was the last victory in Seattle for the Packers.

To give you a little context, that was 14 years ago, and I was a senior in High School. (I’ve been long out of school)

That was also Aaron Rodgers first year as the starting QB for the Packers.

The Packers won that game 27-17.

But since then there have been some memorable moments.

Well actually those moments are memorable for all the wrong reasons for the Packers.

The Fail Mary

In 2012 the Packers headed out west to play the Seahawks.

Many thought was an easy win for the Packers.

Instead it was a hard fought game, with the Packers only scoring 1 touchdown on a 1 yard run by Cedric Benson.

The Packers had the lead late in the 4th quarter and it seemed like the Seahawks needed a miracle.

But that is what the Seahawks got.

With the Packers up 12-6 and a couple of seconds left, Russell Wilson threw a Hail Mary to Golden Tate to win the game for the Seahawks.

The call was controversial as it looked like M.D Jennings intercepted the pass.

But the referees, which were replacement referees, called the pass caught by Tate.

Packers blow 14-3 lead in 2018

After a fast start against the Seahawks the Packers looked well on the way to an easy victory.

Touchdowns by Aaron Jones and Robert Tonyan put the Packers up 14-3.

Somehow though the Packers managed to not retain the lead and let the Seahawks score 10 unanswered points before regaining the lead.

But a late score by the Seahawks in the fourth quarter gave the Packers another loss in Seattle.

Super Bowl dreams dashed in Seattle

Perhaps the most memorable loss in Seattle came in January of 2015.

The Packers were on the verge of going to Arizona for Super Bowl 49.

The team almost played a perfect game for 60 minutes.

The key word here is “almost”.

For 3 quarters the Packers forced turnovers on Russell Wilson, and the Packers defense looked unstoppable.

But the Packers offense couldn’t capitalize and got field goals instead of touchdowns.

Going into the fourth quarter the Packers were up 16-7.

Late in the fourth quarter with about 2:30, the Packers had a 19-7 lead with the two minute warning coming up.

That’s were things crumbled for the Packers.

The Packers gave up 14 points in the final 2 minutes of the game to give the Seahawks a 22-19 lead.

One of the most memorable miscues was a mishandle on-side kick that gave the Seahawks back with the Packers leading 19-14.

Although the Packers were able to send the game into overtime, the Packers gave up a touchdown on the opening drive of overtime giving the Seahawks a 28-22 victory.

Conclusion

History seems to not be on the Packers side this Sunday.

But these are, again, two different teams and the stakes are still high.

The Packers are looking to get their 10th victory and further their chances at the playoffs.

They are also hungry for a win as they are coming off a close loss against the Detroit Lions.

Meanwhile the Seahawks are looking to further their lead in the NFC West.

Hopefully history doesn’t bite the Packers again in Seattle.
