Green Bay Packers LB Edgerrin Cooper has certainly arrived in a big way.
This past Sunday against the Seahawks, Cooper put up 7 total tackles (6 of which were solo). He also got himself a sack, 2 defended passes (resulting in a 0.00 QB rating in his direction), and an interception. For the 2nd time this year Cooper also earned NFC Defensive Player of the Week.
Edgerrin Cooper aka Every Pundit’s 2024 Draft Crush
Remember back in the offseason? When we were are all looking through the hundreds of mock drafts coming out weekly?
One name appeared on nearly every one of those, mine included. Edgerrin Cooper was nothing if not a darling of the Packers draft scouting. His explosive play and measurables made him an obvious choice to help Quay Walker anchor the middle of the field. I would say that the hype was justified, as this first year standout has earned his snaps moving forward.

What I love about Edgerrin is you can tell he has a focussed mindset, and he seems like a great guy on and off the field. We will need his explosive play and teamwork oriented play as the Packers look to make a deep playoff run.
Take a listen to the man himself post game on Sunday.
The Path Forward
Quay Walker suffered an ankle injury in Sunday’s contest and will be week to week. With him missing practice this week, there’s no doubt that Defensive Coordinator Jeff Hafley will be looking to get Cooper more involved in the upcoming prime time match up with the New Orleans Saints.
The Packers have certainly stepped up their secondary play and I look forward to watching this Texas A&M All Star continue to make his mark during his rookie year.
