Tucker Kraft came into this season with some momentum after finishing the 2023 season on a strong note.
Kraft continued on his momentum in 2024, becoming the Packers top tight end.
The third round draft pick in 2023 not only became starter but became a top target from Jordan Love.
As we continue the series of season reviews, we’ll take a look at Tucker Kraft and his 2024 season.
A Breakout 2024
Kraft began the season as the primary tight end, with fellow 2nd year tight end Luke Musgrave as the 2nd tight end.
Making the most of the opportunity, Kraft quietly began the season with 6 catches for 57 yards.
That was the first 3 games.
Kraft then had a good game against the Vikings, going for 6 catches for 53 yards and his first touchdown of the season.
Then there was the breakout game against the LA Rams.
Against the Rams Kraft broke out for 4 catches for 88 yards and two touchdowns.
Furthermore this was the first time that Kraft had 2 touchdowns in one game.
The game solidified Kraft as the starting tight end after Musgrave was injured the previous game.
Those numbers set career highs for Kraft.
For Kraft, it was a breakout season for him, becoming one of the top tight ends in the league.
Not too bad for a guy, who coming out of college was more a blocking tight end.
What needs to be worked on
It was pretty hard to find any flaws for Kraft.
What more could you want from a tight end that can both block and be a receiving threat?
Furthermore, a guy who can run a QB sneak every once in awhile?
Well believe it or not, Kraft can improve on his performance this season.
While Kraft has excelled at the short and medium pass routes, he isn’t a deep threat.
If Kraft can work on becoming a deep threat, paired with Musgrave, who is also a deep threat, you have a dangerous dual at Tight End.
Also, if Musgrave can return to his rookie season form and get rid of the injuries, it will give Love more targets in the passing game.
Conclusion
The development of Tucker Kraft alone has been nothing short of amazing.
Kraft was an afterthought after being drafted in the 3rd round.
Most assumed Musgrave would be the future of the Packers Tight Ends room.
Instead its Kraft who has developed into a superstar Tight End.
Not to say that Musgrave will not develop, he still has time to become a star as well.
But the development of Kraft and the potential in Musgrave has given the Packers excitement in the tight end department.
Look for both Tight Ends to become a dangerous dual in 2025.
