Packers GM Brian Gutekunst and his staff headed south this week to attend the annual Senior Bowl in Mobile, AL. The Senior Bowl is one of the top showcases for college players who are expected to be drafted or signed by an NFL organization later this spring. Gutekunst’s presence at the Senior Bowl is not a shock. Last year, Green Bay drafted nine players who were invited to the 2024 Senior Bowl.

The Senior Bowl is made up of NCAA football players who have completed their eligibility. It does not include underclassmen who declared early. The Senior Bowl is made up of three practices during the week and finishes with a game this Saturday. The Packers have a tendency to admire veteran college players. In the past, Gutekunst has expressed that he wants guys who have played a lot of football.

The last two drafts have been a success for Green Bay. Gutekunst will look to keep his hot streak going with 7 draft picks at his disposal for this year’s draft that will take place in their hometown. It is expected that the Packers will prioritize cornerback, wide receiver, edge, and the interior defensive line when the NFL Draft kicks off on April 24th.

The Packers Met With Several Senior Bowl Attendees

Packers

The Packers met with a fairly long list of players this week at the Senior Bowl. The trend was noticeable for Green Bay. The Packers met with several WRs, LBs, DLs, CBs, Edge and OLs. Green Bay met with several players at the Shrine Bowl and Tropical Bowl as well.

Green Bay has free agents at the LB, DL, OL, and CB positions. With Christian Watson expected to be sidelined the majority of 2025, targeting a WR makes sense. The offensive line is a position that Green Bay never strays away from so meeting with several OL prospects is to be expected. There is uncertainty around CB Jaire Alexander‘s future in Green Bay and with CB Eric Stokes headed to free agency, the cornerback position is a high priority.

The Packers are certainly doing their due diligence. Gutekunst and his staff are making sure to meet with as many as players as they can. According to Easton Butler, a writer for Packers Report, Green Bay met with the following players at the Senior Bowl:
