There has been a lot of talk over the years in regards to the Green Bay Packers acquiring a #1 Wide Receiver. The 2024 iteration of the team hoped a number 1 option would emerge, unfortunately no such emergence occurred. The 2nd and 3rd year Wide Receivers took marginal jumps and now serious injury questions remain. Unfortunately there may not be many options to fix this issue entirely.
Currently on the Roster

Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, Malik Heath, and Bo Melton are the current Receivers on the 2025 Green Bay Packers roster. A list that once showed more promise, may be a real concern heading into 2025 and beyond. Christian Watson tore his ACL in a week 18 matchup vs the Chicago Bears. Leaving him out until minimally Week 12 of the 2025 NFL season. Romeo Doubs also carries some serious injury concerns as 2 concussions marred his 2024 season. 2nd year wideouts Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks had up and down 2024 campaigns. Jayden Reed started the 2024 season with a lot of promise, only to seem to disappear the 2nd half of the season. Dontayvion Wicks has not proven himself to be consistent enough on a down to down basis. Malik Heath and Bo Melton may not be anything more than nice special teams players. To say that Wide receiver is not a huge need for this team would be an understatement.
Older Option A : Davante Adams
Davante Adams seems like the obvious choice to help the 2025 Packers Wide Receiver room. Adams is 32 years old and still has some juice left in the tank. Racking up 85 catches, 1063 yards and 8 TD’s in 2024 with the Raiders/Jets. Davante Adams brings immediate respect to the WR room and gives Jordan Love his number true 1 WR. However this option should not be seen as a long term option due to Davante Adams age. The New York Jets also play a role in this, as first they would need to release Adams. If Adams becomes available, the need is there and the Packers already have an in house recruiter in Pro Bowl Running Back Josh Jacobs.
Option B : Tyreek Hill
The disgruntled WR of the Miami Dolphins made it known that he wanted out after the 2024 season ended. He has since backtracked on this statement while making his rounds for the Kay Adams show during Super Bowl week. However where there is smoke, sometimes there is fire. Tyreek Hill is a bonafide superstar at the WR position, you can’t teach his speed. He opens the offense up with his game wrecking speed.

At 30 years old Tyreek Hill provides a younger option than Davante Adams. Hill has compiled 319 catches, 4468 yards, and 26 TD’s in 3 seasons with the Miami Dolphins. If Tyreek truly is on the outs with Miami, Brian Gutenkunst needs to at least make the call to try and pry him to Green Bay.
Younger Option A : Tee Higgins
The Cincinnati Bengals WR Tee Higgins provides a younger option at the Wide Receiver position at only 26 years old. Higgins would command a larger trade package to bring him to Green Bay. With Ja’Marr Chase set to become the highest paid WR in the NFL, can Cincinnati afford to keep Higgins as well?

Many Green Bay Packers fans clamored for Tee Higgins in the 2020 NFL draft. Packers fans felt Tee Higgins could have really put that offense over the top at the end of the Rodgers era. Fans were forced to watch Aaron Rodgers replacement be drafted instead of Tee Higgins. In Higgins five year career, he has compiled 330 catches, 4595 yards, and 34 Touchdowns. Higgins would give a young wide receiver room a much needed number 1 wideout for the future.
Option B : DK Metcalf
Another Wide Reciever draft pick that Green Bay passed on over the years is none other than DK Metcalf. The Packers had a chance to draft DK in the 2nd round of the 2019 NFL draft but instead took pro bowl guard Elgton Jenkins.

DK Metcalf is only 27 years old and provides the down field weapon that takes the top off of defenses. In Metcalf’s 6 season in the NFL he has put up 438 catches, 6324 yards, and 48 touchdowns. Like Higgins the value in DK Metcalf is his age. Seen as more of a long term option rather than a stop gap, Metcalf provides strength and speed that you can’t teach. Will Brian Gutenkunst try and swing for his number 1 WR? Time will tell.
Stay Away Options : Cooper Kupp and Deebo Samuel
Cooper Kupp and Deebo Samuel are two veteran WRs that look available. They have both been told by their respective teams that they are on the trading block. At this point in Kupp and Samuels careers they both seem to be on the down trend. In 2024 Cooper Kupp’s put up 67 catches, 710 yards, and 6 Touchdowns. At times it seems that Cooper has lost a step and does not seem like a real option for the Green Bay Packers. A great 8 year career in Los Angeles for Cooper Kupp that ended with a Super Bowl. The Packers would be wise to steer clear of this option.

Deebo Samuel has been a constant problem on the San Francisco 49ers since 2019. Samuel is 29 years old and is the ultimate gadget player for that 49ers offense. 2024 was not kind to Mr. Samuel as times he seemed like the odd man out. Samuel had 51 catches, 670 yards, and only 3 touchdowns. The Green Bay Packers have their own gadget player in Jayden Reed, who puts up more production and comes in at a much lower price. The 2025 Packers would be wise to look the other way on Deebo Samuel and let some other team try and revive his career.
