Packers Blow It Again: Fourth Quarter, Zero Backbone | Cheesehead Radio #389 takes on Green Bay’s collapse against the Vikings, Matt LaFleur’s accountability problem and Jordan Love’s disappearing protection. Plus injuries, Jets prep and Hot Pockets. Fourth quarter sold separately.
The Green Bay Packers were cruising. Then they performed their signature finishing move: becoming completely unrecognizable when it mattered most. A 22–10 lead turned into a 39–22 loss to Minnesota, and Cheesehead Radio is here to inspect the wreckage—with considerably more resistance than the Packers offered in the fourth quarter.
We begin with a checklist of misery: the points taken off the board, the failed fourth-down sneak, the penalties that kept Minnesota alive and the protection breakdowns that left Jordan Love navigating rush-hour traffic without a vehicle. Christian Watson supplied the fireworks, but an offense cannot survive on highlight reels alone. How does so much explosive potential produce so little when a game needs finishing?
Then comes the accountability conversation. Matt LaFleur and Brian Gutekunst have contract extensions. Packers fans have questions. Is this a roster problem, a coaching problem or a team that still cannot respond when an opponent punches back? And where does Love fit into the blame equation when his protection fails but the offense desperately needs its franchise quarterback to stop the spiral?
Jonathan Gannon’s defense gets its turn under the microscope, too. The penalties deserve scrutiny, but so do the offensive turnovers that repeatedly handed Minnesota short fields. There is plenty of blame available without pretending every failure belongs to the same department.
We also sort through the Packers’ injury concerns, roster moves and offensive-line uncertainty before turning toward the New York Jets. Can Green Bay handle another aggressive pressure scheme, establish a dependable running game and contain Breece Hall? More urgently: can the Packers demonstrate that football games actually last four quarters?
Finally, the Hot Pockets are served at an appropriately unreasonable temperature. The “young team” grace period is over, the excuses have expired, and championship potential remains a lousy substitute for finishing a game.
It’s Cheesehead Radio: Packers analysis, fan frustration and the kind of loving ridicule this franchise keeps insisting on earning.
