Romeo Doubs has been the subject of trade talks recently.
The 4th year pro has been linked to the Pittsburgh Steelers as they are in the market for a new receiver.
This is after they trade their star receiver George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys.
While they are not in desperate need of a receiver, they do need another receiver besides DK Metcalf.
Meanwhile the Packers have depth at the Wide Receiver position.
But they have a ton of question marks heading into 2025.
How will 1st round draft pick Matthew Golden perform?
Will Savion Williams be a weapon in the Packer offense?
Will Christian Watson be the same after his ACL injury?
With all those questions there is one thing we know, trading Romeo Doubs wouldn’t be the best thing to do.
Here are a couple reasons why Doubs is important to the Packers offense.
Familiarity with the offense
Doubs has been in Matt LeFleur’s offense for 3 years.
During that time span Doubs has done exceptionally well.
Along with Watson, Doubs has the most experience in the offense.
Why does that matter?
It provides Jordan Love with receivers that can be reliable and know the offense.
Dontayvion Wicks and Jayden Reed are entering their third year in the offense.
Both struggled during the season last year with drops.
Furthermore Doubs can help with the development of Golden and Williams as they get accustomed to the offense.
Jordan Love security banket

During Loves time at quarterback for the Packers, he’s always had one target he can depend on.
Doubs has been Loves favorite target since becoming the Packers starting Quarterback in 2023.
With 12 touchdown passes caught from Jordan Love, that tells you how much of a target Doubs is especially when he is needed.
When the going gets tough Doubs has been clutch especially when it come to the redzone and third down conversions.
Taking away Doubs from Love is basically taking away Love security blanket.
And without Christian Watson for at least half the season, Love would likely have to start trusting his rookie WRs.
Reliability and consistency
Doubs is very reliable when it comes to the passing game and has shown consistency all 3 years he been here.
While the receiver group struggled with drops last year, Doubs only dropped 7 passes.
That is 10 percent of his passes, according to Pro-Football-Reference.com.
As stated before, Doubs is very reliable as a receiver and has shown that through his stats int he touchdown department.
While his stats are up and down, through his 3 years in Green Bay Doubs has produced.
Since arriving in Green bay Doubs has had 1,700 yards and 15 touchdowns on 147 catches.
You cannot replace all that production.
Conclusion
Romeo Doubs is very important in the Packers offense.
Doubs provides a reliable target for Jordan Love, all while providing the experience the Packers Wide Receiver room needs.
Trading Doubs would not only create a hole in the Packers Wide Receiver room, but would also leave the Packers without an experienced WR, who can put up numbers.
