Sterling Sharpe long awaited induction into the Hall of Fame is more than a week away, but Packer fans will always remember him as one of the best to play the game.
For Sharpe his career ended way too soon.
The former first round pick in 1988 played only 7 season before a neck injury forced him into early retirement.
At the time though Sharpe was the number one target for fellow Hall of Famer Brett Favre.
Sharpe was in his prime and one of the best WR at that time before his injury.
He is also one of the biggest what if questions Packers fans have.
With Sharpe going into the Hall of Fame next week I wanted to put up the question, exactly how good was Sterling Sharpe?
How good was Sterling Sharpe?

Sharpe was elite during his time in Green Bay.
Looking at Sharpe’s stats, he had a decent rookie season.
During his first year as a Packer he had over 700 yards but only found the endzone once.
It wasn’t until his second season that Sharpe’s career started to take off.
That is when he put up his first 1,000 yard season, the first of five he would have during his career.
Not only was Sharpe constantly racking up yards, he was dependable as a receiver catching passes.
Sharpe set an NFL record at the time for receptions in a single season with 108 in 1992, and then broke it with 112 in 1993
If Sharpe wasn’t racking up receptions, he was putting it up in touchdowns.
He had 4 seasons where he put up double digit touchdowns.
His last season he led the league in touchdown receptions with 18.
In total he had 65 touchdowns in his 7 year career.
To add to his accolades Sharpe is a five-time Pro Bowler and three-time first-team All-Pro.
Conclusion
Sterling Sharpe numbers are ones that show a Hall of Fame career cut short.
To lead the NFL in touchdowns his final season before his career ending injury says something.
It’s a career filled with a bunch of what ifs or what could have been.
But one question that Sharpe doesn’t have to answer is does he belong in the Hall of Fame.
Because that answer is yes as Sharpe will be inducted into the Hall of Fame next week.
