The Green Bay Packers have lost back-to-back games for the first time this season. The losses to the Carolina Panthers and Philadelphia Eagles followed the same script for the Packers. The two games were lost due to poor offensive execution and self-inflicted mistakes. There is no doubt that teams have various highs and lows throughout the season but with 8 games left, Green Bay must make sure these last two weeks will be the lowest point of the season.

The Packers offense has been painful to watch the last two weeks. It seems as if nothing comes easy for the offense. The group is fighting for every single yard but seemingly cannot overcome any setbacks. The offensive line is playing at a very poor level which has made it awfully challenging to run the ball. On top of that, based on Jordan Love’s performance against the Eagles, he looks uncomfortable and his trust level in the offensive line is concerning.

There were a few incidents against the Eagles on Monday Night where Love missed open receivers because his eyes dropped to the pass rush. If Love did not throw the ball quick enough, he was unable to remain patient in the pocket to allow his receivers to come open down field. When the offensive line struggles to block in both the passing and running games, it is going to be hard to score points. So, something has to change. Whether that is a renewed approach or an higher emphasis on better play and improved efficiency.

The Packers Look to Clean it Up

Packers

The NFL season is just past the halfway point. The Packers have played 9 games and have 8 more to go. The season has been a roller coaster but there is still plenty of time for the Packers to hit their stride. As of today, Green Bay needs to make sure that the previous two weeks will be the lowest point of the season. It is never fun to lose but these two losses certainly require a serious look in the mirror which may benefit the team in the long run. It is time to reevaluate the offensive plan and the Packers need a few reinforcements as well.

To start, the offense will improve once Jayden Reed returns. They need to get Matthew Golden back on the field as well. Those two will certainly be a positive addition and give LaFleur and Love more to work with. However, the game plan needs to be altered. When Jordan Love gets in a rhythm, a.k.a his performance against the Steelers, he becomes awfully difficult to stop. It might be time for the Packers to attack defenses through the air. As a result, if Love gets going, it should allow running lanes for Josh Jacobs to open.

LaFleur told the media on Wednesday that the Packers must execute at a higher rate. He is not wrong but in order to improve the level of execution, LaFleur might consider quicker developing plays. That reduces the pressure on the offensive line and should get Jordan Love going. Time will tell if the Packers can make the right adjustments but the mission should be that the overall play need to only go up from here. Green Bay can still achieve their goals but they are running out of time to afford another setback.
