We’re halfway through the off-season and it have been a quiet one for the Packers.

It is amazing that 15 Sundays have passed since Super Bowl LX.

We’re 15 Sundays away from the first Sunday of the NFL season.

The Packers had their off-season start off a little earlier than expected with an early exit from the 2026 playoffs.

But so far the team has been quiet and hasn’t made any headlines during the off-season.

Which could be a bad thing or a good thing.

Quietly the team has made some moves to try to improve the team.

But at the same time the team has some losses as some players decided to leave in Free Agency.

With that we’ll take a look some of the highlights of this years off-season.

Matt LaFleur and Brian Gutekunst sign extensions

Perhaps the biggest story coming out after the season was over was whether or not Head Coach Matt LaFleur and Brian Gutekunst were going to be signed to extensions or not.

There was even a question of whether or not the Packers would even bring back ether of them after the teams meltdown against the Bears in the Wild Card round of the Playoffs.

In the end though, team president Ed Policy had no doubt he wanted to bring back both LeFleur and Gutekunst.

Both signed brand new multi-year deals keeping them with the Packers for the foreseeable future.

When asked if the meltdown in Chicago had any impact on the decision, Policy denied that had any impact on his decision.

“It’s never been more clear to me that we have the right people in the right places and that they’re all aligned,” Policy said.

Finding Jeff Hafley’s replacement

Jeff Hafley left the Packers about a week after the Packers season ended to take the head coaching job in Miami.

This left the Packers without a defensive coordinator.

While it took a couple of weeks the Packers eventually hire former Arizona Cardinals Head coach Jonathan Gannon as the replacement for Hafley.

In Gannon, the Packers have a defensive coordinator who has had success in the NFL.( Gannon lead a top ranked Eagles defense in 2022 to the Super Bowl)

The Packers will have to switch from a 3-4 defense back to a 4-3 defense this upcoming season.

Additions and subtractions

When the free agency market opened up the Packers knew there were some players they couldn’t keep or pay.

Before Free Agency, the Packers made an acquisition, acquiring Zaire Franklin from the Colts in exchange for Colby Wooden.

The move made it clear that the Packers weren’t going to re-sign Quay Walker, who signed a 3-year, $40.5 million deal with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Furthermore on the defensive side, the Packers signed 2 free agents during the free agent period.

First the Packers signed CB Benjamin St.Juste from the LA Chargers to help the secondary.

Then the Packers added some much needed help on the defensive line signing Javon Hargrave from the Vikings.

The move re-unites Hargrave and Jonathan Gannon, who Hargrave played for in 2022 with the Eagles.

Hargrave had one of his best seasons under Gannon.

Perhaps one of the biggest losses for the Packers came on the offensive end with Romeo Doubs signing a 4-year, $80 million deal with the Patriots.

With that the Packers made sure to pay on of their own signing Jayden Reed to a new 3-year 50 million dollar contract.

This ensures the Packers will have at least one of their star WR for the foreseeable future.

Furthermore the Packers will have to make now have a chance to sign another on of their WR, Christian Watson to an extension.

The Draft

This years draft class doesn’t include a first round draft pick limiting the Packers in picks.

The Packers focused more on depth of the team with this draft class, while also adding players who can help the team right away.

Round 2, No. 52: Brandon Cisse, DB, South Carolina

Round 3, No. 77: Chris McClellan, DT, Missouri

Round 4, No. 120: Dani Dennis-Sutton, Edge, Penn State

Round 5, No. 153: Jager Burton, C, Kentucky

Round 6, No. 201: Domani Jackson, CB, Alabama

Round 6, No. 216: Trey Smack, K, Florida

Conclusion

While it may seem like a quiet off-season, the team is quietly improving the roster.

With 15 more Sundays until the Packers open up the regular season, the second half of the off-season will focus more on the players and if their investment pays off.

That begins with OTA’s and Training camp.

But who knows, the Packers could make even more moves before the regular season starts, we saw that last year.

Before you know it, the Packers will be kicking off their season.
