With training camp on the horizon, the Packers have much to improve upon entering the season. Players like Jordan Love and Micah Parsons naturally take the headlines, but they are not the only ones who shape the season. Across the roster, there’s a long list of Packers waiting for their chance to make a meaningful impact.
When going through the roster, it is easy to forget just how talented this team is. Of course, injuries became the main factor for the disappointing end to the season.
The Packers repeatedly got in their own way. Slow starts, offensive lulls, and special teams’ debacles became highlighted. These have been three core issues since Matt LaFleur became coach.
Now comes the moment to identify which players can elevate their game from good to great, and training camp is the perfect place to start.
Packers Taking the Next Step
There are three Packers that stick out when it comes to being under the radar. Anthony Belton, Savion Williams, and Collin Oliver. All three have special talents that are extremely beneficial.
The season can rise and fall strictly on the play of the offensive line. Sean Rhyan has been signed to an extension, while Jordan Morgan and Zach Tom are set at right and left tackle. That puts added pressure on the depth pieces behind them.
Last season, Green Bay took a second‑round swing on Anthony Belton, who spent most of his snaps at right tackle. His rookie season was up and down, but the tools are clearly there.
The Packers need dependable linemen who can step in without the offense collapsing, and Belton has the physical traits to be that player — he just needs to refine his technique and consistency.
Savion Williams has operated as a gadget receiver, with Matt LaFleur using him in more creative ways than a traditional receiver. He has shown flashes, but his game still feels incomplete.
With Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks now gone, Williams has a chance to carve out a bigger role and expand what the offense can do schematically.
Collin Oliver has battled injuries throughout his time in Green Bay, but his skill set has drawn comparisons to Micah Parsons, with many calling him a Baby Micah. With Parsons sidelined, Oliver has ample opportunity to showcase his versatility.
I’ll be watching Belton, Williams, and Oliver closely. They represent three key positions — tackle, receiver, and edge rusher. They each have potential to elevate the roster. Only time will tell on their success, but training camp is exactly where that journey begins.
