The Packers ended the 2026 Preseason on a high note – winning maybe the most exciting game of the entire preseason over the Arizona Cardinals. Maybe the two biggest “winners” from that game were J Michael Sturdivant and Kyle McCord. Both had impressive games, and JMS parlayed it into a spot on the initial 53. McCord played well enough to net Green Bay a 6th round pick and earned himself the back up QB role in Miami. That all being said, the biggest win from the preseason is that the Packers emerged relatively unscathed – and that leads us to some bold predictions on how Green Bay’s season could play out.

Jordan Love Wins The MVP Award

If there is a silver lining to the obviously horrible Josh Jacobs situation, its that it may finally force Matt LaFleur to “Let Jordan Cook”. While MarShawn Lloyd has looked competent at RB filling in for Jacobs, he is still a massive health risk. Without the kind of stability that Jacobs provided the Packers will likely throw the ball more than they ever have since Love took over as the starter.

A reminder for those that forgot given how the season ended. Going into the disaster in Denver, Jordan Love was third in MVP odds behind only Drake Maye and Matt Stafford. Give Love the volume of pass work those two had and there’s plenty of reason to believe he could put up MVP worthy stats.

MarShawn Lloyd Takes The Job Permanently

Any discussion on MarShawn Lloyd has to acknowledge the injury issue. So consider it acknowledged. With that out of the way, lets talk about why Lloyd could not only open the season as the number one back, but why he might keep it.

First off is that Lloyd has an ability that nobody else on the roster does – explosiveness. We don’t know if he has the vision or the timing that a back like Jacobs does, but we do know that if he gets in the open field he has speed that nobody else in the backfield does. He’s also more of a threat in the passing game, with the matchup against Denver displaying that.

Beyond what Lloyd brings to the table, the Packers have to already be considering cutting ties with Jacobs because of the off field incident. Additionally they are no longer on the hook for any guaranteed money, which makes cutting him all the easier.

Whether Lloyd is the guy or not- I do think Jacobs has played his last down as a Packer.

It’s been a constant refrain in the offseason how much special teams and the kicker cost Green Bay last season. And it wasn’t just last season either. How much has kicking hurt this franchise?

While Trey Smack has been up and down in camp, in actual game action he’s been perfect. From all different ranges and in different environments. I think Smack makes at least 90% of his kicks, and I think Cam Achord works a miracle and makes the teams biggest weaknesses into one of its biggest strengths.
