Some much needed help is coming to the Packers offensive line in the form of Laken Tomlinson.

Tomlinson has been on the Dallas Cowboys practice squad and has made stops recently with the Texans and Ravens.

A 2015 first round draft pick by the Detroit Lions, Tomlinson has 173 career starts.

His last start was last year in week 11 as a member of the Texans.

Furthermore, Tomlinson made the Pro Bowl back in 2021 as a member of the San Fransisco 49ers.

The stats

Last season Tomlinson appeared in seven games for the Texans.

Over those seven games, Tomlinson earned a 55.9 overall offensive grade.

Tomlinson gave up three sacks, four quarterback hits, and 11 pressures during that time.

To put that into perspective, both Jager Burton and Jacob Monk have allowed 16 pressures so far on Jordan Love.

Earlier we mentioned Tomlinson has started 173 games.

Well, there was a seven-year stretch from 2018 through 2024 where Tomlinson started 116 consecutive games.

So Tomlinson is very reliable when it comes to be there when the team needs him.

How Tomlinson can help

As the Packers offensive line continues to struggle, the Packers hope Laken Tomlinson can bring stability to the line.

Something the Packers need after the horrendous performance put on by the line against the Falcons.

Through three weeks, the Packers offensive line has ranked near the bottom of the league.

Furthermore, injuries have caused the Packers to shuffle the offensive line that already had questions coming into the season.

At guard Aaron Banks hasn’t fully recovered from toe and knee injuries, he has only played in one game.

At tackle, Zach Bako-Bewele was lost for the season last week with a knee injury.

The Packers currently rank No. 32 in the league in average rushing yards per game, almost 17 yards behind the next-closest team.

A backfield of MarShawn Lloyd, Kaleb Johnson, and Chris Brooks has been uninspiring.

Even when they do have the luxury of finding rare daylight, but the offensive line hasn’t done them any favors, either.

With over 99 percent of Tomlinson’s snaps coming at left guard over the course of his career, it’s a fair bet that’s where the Packers hope to slot him in on the line at some point.
