When Eddie Lacy was drafted in the second round of the NFL Draft this April, he was seen as THE answer by many for the long suffering Packers running game.
A bruising, powerful back capable of wearing down opposing defenses because of his aggressive running style, he was expected to provided an immediate impact on offense. By adding a legitimate threat in the running game to compliment an already explosive passing attack, the Packers offense had the potential to become an unstoppable machine.
The latest addition to the Packers had his level of dedication questioned recently when an unflattering photo of Lacy was published. The photo, taken during the third day of Training Camp, appears to show Lacy as a bit larger than his reported 5′ 11″, 230 pound frame, especially when compared to what he looked like during OTAs:
The photo has since been dismissed as nothing more than a poor angle. Those who have seen him in person have said Lacy is far from being out of shape, and Lacy had a very impressive day of practice the day after the photo became a topic of discussion.
Whatever the current weight of Lacy is, if he looks anything like the player who ran over opposing defenses while playing at Alabama, the Packers have a beast of a running back for years to come.
