Aaron Rodgers kicked off his two-week run of guest hosting Jeopardy on Monday. From the looks of the first episode, Rodgers did an admirable job of filling-in. The very early indication is his two-week run should be well received and entertaining.

Overall, Rodgers was the ultimate game manager. He took control of the game and guided the contestants through the questions. He correctly pronounced Toyama Trough and Yamato Basin, and had some light hearted fun throughout the show.

Now, the highlight of the show came at the end when contestant and returning champ Scott Shewfelt took a jab at Packers head coach Matt LaFleur with his answer of, “who wanted to kick that field goal” to the question about about Emmy lifetime achievement winner Fred Rogers. The winner correctly answered with just “Mr. Rogers”. But Shewfelt’s answer did not go unnoticed, as it was a viral hit around social media.

Rodgers paused, got and little smirk and then chuckled and replied with “That is a great question, should be correct, but unfortunately for this game today it’s incorrect.”

Now, we all have that one question we want to ask an athlete or famous person if we ever have the opportunity. I give credit to the contestant Scott Shewfelt here, either he really wanted to know or he wanted to take a light hearted jab at the future first ballot hall of famer. Whichever it was, Shewfelt took his shot.

The big winner of Rodgers guest hosting Jeopardy, will be the charity, North Valley Community Foundation. As part of his appearance, Jeopardy! will make a contribution to the charity. The amount that Jeopardy will donate will match the cumulative winnings of all contestants who compete during the guest host’s tenure.

Rodgers is a former Celebrity Jeopardy Champion, as he competed on the show back in 2015.

Rodgers approached the show as he does any regular football game, he prepared. He watched “game” tape and picked his spots to demonstrate his ad-lib ability and humor. You could tell by watching the program that Rodgers was fully prepared and ready for this opportunity. In recent weeks, Rodgers has expressed a desire to be the future full-time host of Jeopardy, after his first day, he demonstrated that he is more than qualified.

Tune into Jeopardy through April 16th to catch Rodgers guest hosting the program.
