2023 was a eventful year for Packers starting quarterback Jordan Love.

It started with back in March with a shocking announcement.

Former Quarterback Aaron Rodgers announced his intention to play for the New York Jets for the 2023 season.

One month later the Packers traded their future Hall of Fame Quarterback to the Jets.

Love was the next man up to step in at Quarterback for the Packers.

Transition to Love

Much like the transition to Rodgers when Brett Favre left, the transition to Jordan Love at quarterback had fans asking a lot of questions.

Would Love be as successful as Rodgers was?

How would Love perform on the field and how would the team react to him?

The answer to that was pretty easy.

The youngest team in the NFL all supported the first year starter.

They made that clear throughout the season.

In-Season Play

Love was impressive during the preseason playing in all three games.

He proceeded to start the season off with a bang passing for 245 yards and 3 touchdowns in a win against the Bears week one.

Love remained impressive in week two in a loss against the Falcons passing for another 3 touchdowns.

In week three against the Saints, Love led a furious 4th quarter comeback giving the Packers a victory.

Love and the Packers were 2-1 record through three weeks.

Lossing Streak and struggles

Beginning in week four Love and the Packers started to struggle on Offense.

That leaving the defense to fend for themselves.

Love struggled as he started not taking care of the ball.

He also struggled to get off to fast starts and taking advantage of opportunities the defense provide.

The combination of the Packers struggling on offense and the defense struggling to do what they can led to a four game losing streak.

Question started to come up about Love and whether or not he was the guy for the Packers.

There came a point in time where there was discussion on whether or not the Packers should spend another first round pick on a quarterback in the 2024 draft.

At that point the Packers were in position to get a possible top ten pick.

Fans were also growing impatient on the development of Love.

Finding his groove

In desperate need of a win the Packers finally got back on track in week 9 with a win against the Rams.

Love though was still struggling and relied on a strong running game against the Rams.

Beginning in week ten Love started to find his groove in a loss to the Steelers.

He did what his coach Matt LaFleur told him to do which is “let it rip” and passed for 289 yards.

The following week Love passed for over 300 yards for the first time in his career in a win against the Chargers.

Since then Love has passed for over 200 yard in each game.

Heading into week 17 Love has 27 touchdowns and 3,587 passing yards.

Moral of the story?

Remember earlier in the article I said that fan were growing impatient with Jordan Love?

Well back at the end of September I wrote an article on whether or not we should hit the panic button on the Packers and Love.

At that point in the season I realized that this team was young and needed patience in order to start gelling together.

That’s all part of growing together.

They went through the growing pains of losing and learning their lessons.

For Love it was a game of just being patient and knowing they he had the team behind him.

Yes, it took a bit for that to come around but right now Love is playing his best football at the right time.

Conclusion

It has been a rollercoaster ride for Jordan Love in 2023.

Even though the year is not over at the time of this article Love has been through a lot this year.

From taking over for a future hall of fame Quarterback to struggling to playing lights out, Love has been though it all.

The future looks bright for Love.

And all it took was patience and time.
