Just like that the 2024 Preseason is in the books for the Packers.

The Packers ended the preseason with a 30-7 victory over the Baltimore Ravens.

With the win the Packers ended the wild preseason with a 2-1 record.

It has been an up and down preseason for the team.

2 very impressive wins and 1 very bad loss.

But as the team prepares for the real thing 2 weeks from now, their are still questions.

Here are a couple of takeaways from the preseason.

The First team offense didn’t need much work

For 3 plays in the 2024 preseason the Packers offense picked up where they left off.

A couple of runs by Josh Jacobs and a TD pass from Jordan Love to Dontayvion Wicks.

That’s all the Packers coaches needed from the first team offense.

Now the real test will be how will the offense fair in the regular season.

While Head Coach Matt LeFleur thinks the sample size from the offense is enough.

Some may think the offense may come into the season too relaxed.

But if Love and company can keep their momentum from last year going, this offense will be dangerous.

The defense under Jeff Hafley is coming together

Granted the defense didn’t have the best showing in Denver.

But the defense seems to be more exciting this year then in years past.

Furthermore, the defense is forcing turnovers.

In all three games, the Packers have forced turnovers

This is something we haven’t seen from the defense in a very long time.

The defense is also forcing pressure and there is improved play in the secondary.

Although the defense was playing mainly with 2nd and 3rd string starters, this is a good sign.

Questions at backup QB

Yikes.

That this an understatement when describing the depth at QB.

The battle at backup QB is a messy one as nether QB stood at in he preseason.

Sean Clifford, who is the incumbent at the 2nd QB position has struggled.

Although he had a good game vs Cleveland, he struggled in the last two preseason games.

Clifford finished the preseason 22-43 for 207 yards and 1 touchdown.

Meanwhile Rookie QB Michael Pratt didn’t do too much to separate himself from Clifford.

Like any rookie Pratt struggled as well, but was consistent in his performances.

While Pratt was impressive in his debut against the Browns, Pratt struggled against the Broncos.

He bounced back with a good performance against the Ravens.

Pratt finished the preseason 23-35 for 178 yards and 1 tocuhdown.

Both QB’s don’t really give the Packers a chance to win if Love were to get hurt.

In fact, the Packers wasted no time and acquiring another QB.

Yesterday, the Packers traded a 7th round draft pick to the Tennessee Titans for Malik Willis.

Willis will need some time to learn he offense, so the Packers may temporarily keep Clifford or Pratt until Willis is up to speed.

The Kicking Situation

Lastly, the kicker situation is at a stand still.

The competition between Anders Carlson and Greg Joseph has been in the spotlight during training camp and the 2024 preseason.

While both kickers have shown their range, with both kicking 50+ yard field goals in the preseason, both have struggled with consistency.

Both have missed makable field goals in consecutive games.

It will be up to Packers Special teams coach Rich Bisaccia and the Packers front office to make this hard decision.

Both kickers haven’t done much to separate themselves from one another.

The Packers could also go the free agent route here, if they feel there is a better kicker out there for them.
