A mere four months ago, the New York Jets traded for Davante Adams. The era of Aaron Rodgers to Davante Adams revitalized Jets fans again. Since Aaron Rodgers arrived in New York, they have been searching for the missing piece.
Now, here we are four months later, and the Jets have parted ways with Rodgers and Adams. The Jets completely revamped their coaching room and their general manager. The missing piece to the puzzle has yet to be solved.
Adams is a former Packers standout, one of the most exciting receivers to wear the Green and Gold. The Packers are facing questions in the wide receiver room. A room that was once full of promise and budding stars feels at a crossroads. Many of the receivers took a significant step back and struggled with drops.
However, there is also now an injury concern. Christian Watson will not be back until close to the end of the 2025 season. While it doesn’t seem like Romeo Doubs will stop playing football, head injuries are still incredibly serious.
This leaves a need to be filled with the wide receivers. While I do not necessarily agree with the notion that you must need a wide receiver one, I do believe you need a vocal leader.
The Case for Davante Adams in Green Bay

Davante Adams can be the receiver on the Packers who is able to elevate everyone around him. Last year, the goal was to not take snaps away and to let the young receivers develop. While that is an ok plan for a season, it isn’t feasible when the Super Bowl window is open.
Bringing Adams back to Green Bay allows both things to be true. The receivers will still continue to develop and grow. On top of that, they will get a leader with experience who can show them how to play receiver.
Though Adams is 32 years old, he has hardly lost a step. Looking back on his first half of the season with the Raiders, and second half with the Jets, the explosiveness and dynamic play ability is still there.
I am not sure what the price tag will be, and that is what this all comes down to. He would fit seamlessly in the offense. There would not be a major learning curve as he was coached under LaFleur.
Adams has recently spoke glowingly about Jordan Love. If Adams sees the potential of this team, and Brian Gutekunst sees a need to sign a veteran receiver, the case for Adams is simple. Bringing Davante Adams back to Green Bay ignites an already evolving offense and leader the Packers need for a Super Bowl run.
