The Green Bay Packers are not just off to a 2-0 start. They are off to a dominant, commanding 2-0 start to the 2025 season. The Packers defeated the 2024 NFC 1 seed and the 2024 NFC Runner-Up in their first two games. Despite the two impressive victories and the well-deserved attention from the media, Safety Xavier McKinney, one of the Packers seven elected team captains, made it quiet clear that the 2-0 start does not guarantee anything.

The Packers returned to practice on Monday after a mini bye week. Afterwards, Xavier McKinney met with the media in the locker room and he did not hesitate to share that the Packers 2-0 start means nothing. McKinney told the media that “You can’t really get complacent and you can’t feel like you won the Super Bowl. Because it’s a lot of mother f****** that start off 2-0, and late in the season they don’t be worth s***.” McKinney’s message to the rest of the team is loud and clear.

Green Bay has certainly generated a lot of buzz for their two wins to start the season. Some of that is deserved but the Packers have 15 games left to play. There is no doubt that the team is a long ways away from achieving their goals. McKinney did not hesitate to clarify that the team knows there is a long road ahead. The Packers will be tested more and more as the season goes on. Adversity will hit and injuries will happen. How the Packers handle those moments will be awfully telling.

Xavier McKinney & The Packers Road Ahead

The Green Bay Packers will hit the road for the first time this season as the team heads to Cleveland. In fact, four of the team’s next five games will be on the road. Green Bay will face the 0-2 Browns. Despite their disappointing record, the Browns feature a stout run defense and have one of, if not, the best defensive football player in Myles Garrett. On paper, this is a game the Packers should handle but sloppy play, penalties, and turnovers could lead to a disaster. It will be important for the Packers to avoid the self-inflicted mistakes.

In Week 4, the Packers head to Dallas for the highly anticipated return of Micah Parsons. The Cowboys offense has shown a lot of flash and the ability to score throughout the first two weeks. Their defense, despite looking to improve against the run, has not performed too well so far. The Cowboys are dealing with a few injuries on the offensive line which bodes well for the Packers defensive front.

Following the Cowboy game, the Packers will hit the bye week before returning to Green Bay to host the Joe Burrowless Bengals. To McKinney’s point, there is a long way to go but the Packers do have three winnable games coming up. Hopefully, McKinney’s message will resinate with team, keep the focus high, and the medal to the metal over the next few weeks as Green Bay embarks on a journey to secure a couple more wins.
