The Packers defense that we saw in Dallas Sunday wasn’t the same Packers defense we’ve seen the first two and a half games.
In fact, it was a far cry from what we saw earlier in the season.
While the Packers were able to stop the Cowboys offense for the better part of the first half, it all started crumbling down with 5 minutes left in the second quarter.
The Packers held a 13-2 lead.
They were controlling the game before the Cowboys marched down the field to close the gap to 13-9.
Seeking for more points, the Packers offense tried to drive down the field before a fumble by Jordan Love gave the ball back to the Cowboys.
That led to another Cowboys score for them to take the lead 16-13 before halftime.
Sound familiar?
If it does, it’s because the same thing happened one week ago in the Packers loss against the Browns.
Not being able to get a stop

From there on, it was a back and forth game with neither defense being able to stop the other offense.
For the Packers through they could get off the field.
In the second half, they only forced one punt.
But after that, the Packers defense allowed 3 straight touchdown drives.
It seemed like nothing was stoping the Cowboys from scoring.
When the Packers offense needed the defense to step up they failed.
After Jordan Love connected with Romeo Doubs to score what could’ve been the game winning touchdown, the Packers needed a stop on defense up 34-30.
Instead the Cowboys drove down the field in less than 5 plays to take the lead 37-34.
Defensive disappointment
Allowing 40 points to a team that struggled to put point against the Bears might be a problem.
“I’m very disappointed, just overall how we performed.”
While Parsons did a sack that saved the Packers from losing the game, he says their is still work to be done.
“Jordan (Love) played like the player he was, and we let him down. We didn’t live up to the level of expectation on defense.”
The Packers did put pressure on Cowboys QB Dak Prescott but it barley fazed him.
When pressured, Prescott was 10-13 for 121 yards along with 6 first downs.
George Pickens tore up the Packers secondary with 8 receptions for 134 yards.
This was without their star wideout CeDee Lamb, who was out with a ankle injury.
The running game for the Cowboys was effective, with Javonte Williams gaining 85 yards on 20 carries.
Conclusion
Despite the performance by the Packers defense, the offense did enough to help the team and save them from a loss.
The bye week will serve as time for the Packers not only to heal up but to work on when went wrong to last couple of weeks.
The defense is talented and they have all the pieces, but with the set back in Dallas, the defense must regroup.
They must find what worked the first two weeks of the season, if they have any shot at being elite.
