Green Bay Packers Top 5 Burning Questions Heading Into The Season
We are just a week away from the Packers and Vikings kicking off in Minnesota! And with the new season just beginning, there are a ton of questions that need to be and will be answered soon enough.
These are my top five burning questions heading into 2026 Green Bay Packers NFL Season.
Packers Burning Question #5
What will this offense look like with Josh Jacobs possibly missing so much time? With the running back being placed on the commissioner’s exemption list due to his unresolved legal issues, there are a lot of question marks surrounding the Packers running game. Since Jordan Love took over as the Packer’s starting quarterback, the emphasis on the running game took precedent.
But that looks to change this season. Earlier in training camp, Matt LaFleur, being goaded by the press, said he was going to let Love cook. Later on, LaFleur backtracked that response, but there is probably something to it. Especially if Jacobs is out for a significant amount of time. It might be time to let Love cook. With Jacobs out, it might be the only way to move the ball. Jordan Love could possibly have over a hundred more passing attempts this season.
Burning Question #4
Will the Packers offensive line be able to hold up? It seems like the Packers always have a top notch offensive line, but that wasn’t the case last season. Honestly, it was mediocre at best and because of that, the line will look a bit different. It seems like the preferred starting five are Jordan Morgan at left tackle (not a starter last season), Aaron Banks at left guard (who might rotate with rookie fifth rounder Jager Burton), Sean Rhyan at center (who started the second half of last season), Jacob Monk at right guard (not a starter last season), and Zach Bako-Bewele (who missed a large chunk of last season due to injury).
This offensive line will look a lot different from last year and because of that, there are a ton of questions about them. But ultimately, will this line be able to hold up? Will Jordan Morgan do well at left tackle replacing Rasheed Walker who significantly underperformed last season? Can Zach Bako-Bewele stay healthy? The offensive line is a big question mark and right now, it might be keeping the Packers from achieving their ultimate goals.
Burning Question #3
How much different will this defense look with Jonathan Gannon as it defensive coordinator? Jeff Hafley moved on to become the Miami Dolphins head coach so Matt LaFleur hired Gannon to replace him. Jeff Hafley improved this Packers defense exceptionally since the firing of Joe Barry, and now it’s up to Gannon to keep that arrow pointing up.
Gannon has led great defenses in the past so he is completely capable of doing it. He just has some extra work to do with this Packers defensive unit, which has a diverse cast of players and one particular player coming back from injury.
Packers Burning Question #2
When will Micah Parsons come back and what will he look like? This question is probably on everybody’s minds. When Parsons went down last season, the Packers didn’t win another game. He is the straw that stirred the drink for the defense last year. So of course, we all want to know when he will come back from his ACL injury.
Week 5? Week 6? Maybe week 7?
Only time will tell, but that isn’t the only question. Will he be the same? Right now Parsons is on the physically unable to perform list, meaning he won’t be able to play a game until week five no matter what. However, because PUP rules have changed, he can start to practice after two weeks. It doesn’t mean he will but the Packers can be given some time to ramp him up before week five. If, of course, he is ready. And then, when he does play, will he be the same player as before? Basically, question number two is just simply: Micah Parsons?
Packers Burning Question #1
Finish. All offseason, the Packers’ theme seemed to be “finish.” And after last season’s collapse and the Packers collapse in several games a year ago, that theme makes sense. So, if Green Bay put that much energy into that theme, will they be able to finish? Last season, the answer was “no.” Will this season be different?
If not, then the true number one burning question may have something more to do with Matt LaFleur than simply “can this Packers’ team finish”.
But only time will tell.
