PACKERS FOOTBALL FRIDAY: ’15 Rosterdamus 1.0

Now that the Packers have drafted their 2015 class, signed college free agents and invited hopefuls to tryouts, we have a pretty good idea of the team’s plans for it’s 90 man roster.  While that’s fine and there are several position battles that excite me, it’s never too early to guess the 53 men we’ll take to Chicago.

This team has a special feel to it.  I don’t want to make any bold declarations or predictions about the season but the word is “special”.

Candidates for the final roster spot: Adrian Hubbard, Matt Rotherham, Nate Palmer, James Vaughters and Christian Ringo. Guys that I have on the team that are not guarantees are John Crockett (though believe me he’s going to be the 3rd string back), Jay Elliot, Chris Banjo and Joe Thomas.  It’s a good bet that the newly emphasized special teams unit will have a lot to do with who makes the actual 53.

Overall I like your roster. My only thought about what the Packers might do different is that they might only keep 3 tight ends, and add in an extra offensive lineman. I know they usually keep four tight ends, but they don’t seem to have enough talent at the position to warrant keeping that many (of course the same might be said of the back-up offensive linemen).

I agree with Brian – one less tight end and one more offensive lineman. I also think we might want to reconsider one less defensive back if an additional defensive lineman or linebacker sows promise. Peppers is on his last leg so adding a young defensive big man might be good for us in the long haul.
