This year is a leap year and there is no better way to honor Packer Hall of Famer LeRoy Butler than making leap day, LeRoy Butler Leap Day.

LeRoy may not have had his moment this leap year by being selected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but the Wisconsin State Assembly has declared February 29, 2020 LeRoy Butler’s Leap Day.

Butler was the inventor of the Lambeau Leap. He originated it in a game against the Raiders in 1993, when he took a lateral from Reggie White and ran to the end zone and leaped into the arms of the Green Bay faithful.

The Lambeau Leap has since become iconic, as every Packer that scores a touchdown, leaps into the stands. It is even well known around the NFL.

Butler was a 4-time All-Pro Safety, a member of the 1990s All-Decade team, and a Super Bowl Champion. During his career with the Packers, he became the first defensive back in NFL history to have 20 interceptions and 20 sacks. He finished his career with 38 interceptions and 20.5 sacks in 181 games.

This February 29, do a leap in honor of LeRoy Butler and his leap day. Go Pack Go!!
