We’ve completed one day in the NFL’s Super Wild Card weekend and we are down to two teams who could come to Green Bay for the Divisional Round. It is between the Los Angeles Rams and Chicago Bears.
On Saturday, the number 6 seed Rams upset the number number 3 seed Seattle Seahawks in Seattle 30-20. The lowest seeded remaining playoff team would travel to Lambeau Field to take on the number one seeded Packers. With the Rams winning, that leaves the Rams and the Bears as the lowest remaining seeds.
Despite being banged up the Rams were able to pull off the upset. Rams quarterback Jared Goff did not start the game due to recent injury but he ended up coming in and finishing the game because their starting quarterback, John Wolford, left the game with an injury.
The Rams were also without Defensive Player of the Year candidate Aaron Donald in the second half as he left with a rib injury. Being without Goff and Donald would pose a challenge for the Rams if they were to end up coming to Green Bay.
The Rams and Packers will both have to wait to see what happens between the Bears and Saints today.
The Bears are the number seven seeded team in the NFC playoffs, while the Saints are the number two seed and will be the home team in their matchup. Kick off is set for 3:40 pm CT on Sunday, January 10, 2021. A Bears win and Chicago will travel to Lambeau Field to take on Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. If the Saints win, then the Los Angeles Rams will travel to Lambeau Field.
If it happens to be the Bears, it would be the third time this season that both teams have faced off. If the Rams come to Lambeau, it would be Matt LaFleur vs Sean McVay, who both coached together for one season with the Rams before LaFleur went to become offensive coordinator with the Titans. McVay and LaFleur have had a longer relationship than just one season, as both of them were on Mike Shanahan’s staff in Washington. Either way, there will be great story lines all week to discuss.
Game time has not been set for the Packers Divisional Round game next week yet, but the NFL will announce dates and times of the divisional games late Sunday after the conclusion of all the wild card games.
