Yup, I said the damn thing. Week 7 is a must-win for the Packers. The team comes into tomorrow’s game against the Commanders with a 3-3 record. Check out their next five games after Sunday.
October 30th @ Buffalo (SNF)
November 6th @ Detroit
November 13th vs. Dallas
November 17th vs. Tennessee (TNF)
November 27th @ Philadelphia (SNF)
If the Packers lose in Washington, they’ll fall to 3-4 and be losers of 3 consecutive games against the Giants, Jets and Commanders. Then, they’ll prepare for the Bills where they will face the best team in football on the road, off a bye, in primetime. Likely, the Packers will lose to Buffalo if they couldn’t figure out how to salvage a win against the Commanders. In this scenario, they are 3-5 with a road game in Detroit, followed up by the Cowboys and Titans at home.
For the sake of fun, let’s say the Packers figure out a way to go 2-1 in those 3 games, which is generous if they really are 3-5. That puts them at 5-6 going into a Sunday Night Football matchup in Philadelphia. Bob, it doesn’t look good.
With that said, if the Packers can find a way to play better football and come out of Landover, Maryland with a win tomorrow afternoon, they’ve broken their losing streak and have a winning record of 4-3. While the chances of beating Buffalo are still slim, they do increase in my opinion if they’re able to gain some confidence and momentum with a win tomorrow.
Even if the Packers still drop their primetime game against the Bills, they’ll be 4-4 with 9 games left on the schedule. 4-4 looks so much better than 3-5, especially when you look at the opponents in front of them. I know it’s only Week 7, and there’s no such thing as must-win games in Week 7… but I’m declaring tomorrow as a must-win game for the Packers.
